On The Fly

Thorax never liked his life in the hive, and after their recent defeat during the invasion of Cantorlot it has become downright unbearable.
So he left.

He's now roaming the pony homeland in search of a new purpose, a new life, friendship, love and most pressingly, a place to sleep.

Very good story, I'm liking the idea of Thorax learning about the Crystal Empire from Big Mac in your story.

It does make me wonder how in canon did Thorax arrive at the Crystal Empire?

He said he felt alot of love from the crystal empire, presumably flurry heart after she was born. But what he probably felt was the burst of love magic immediately after it was saved. Headed over to investamagte*, then found it had even more love because of flurry. Although... there are alot cooler explanations out there, including stories like this.

I forgotten Thorax had felt a lot of love from the Crystal Empire. xD That would make a lot of sense and I'll have to look for those stories that have cooler explanations.

I like how you establish how Thorax didn't go, or even think to go, to the Crystal Empire right away after leaving the hive--it helps account for some of the time gap, the idea that Thorax spent his time wandering in that general direction, looking for a new place to call home, before ultimately heading there.

Of course, I also figure he didn't leave the hive right away after the Canterlot invasion, but that's another story.
