It's an original idea. The armor in the picture is from the game section 8 but the vehicles, armor, and everything in this story is built from the ground up by me over the course of about 5 years. The only thing Section 8 game related is the picture.

Are you using Section 8 weapons? Because if so, THANK YOU! Most Sci-Fi writers are obsessed with powder-sniffing guns instead of doing either the cliché but logical laser thing or turning their guns into coilguns.

Yeah I was never a fan of only powder based. I'm doing something like Section 8 but it's they have a difference in tech and tactics. Section 8 weapons are the closest thing I can think of that'll give you an idea as to what they're weapons look like. Since I can't draw I can't show the vehicle and stuff properly and I don't want to have anyone try and jump me for copyright.
The energy used in the rifle is kind of a smart round. It's energy but it's a long story one the process and make up of it.

Through no fault of their own. What really got their heads out of their asses was fear of the unknown. After realizing they had a better chance of surviving and thriving by working together they all kind of chilled out. In a way they've reached a higher level of intelligence.

I would just call that Empathy, not Intelligence. After all, knowing something and using said knowledge are two very different things. For example, I used to not eat any kind of vegetable and I mean that literally. I knew they were good for me but I still didn't apply that knowledge and eat them as I should have. That mindset eventually got me sent to the hospital. Now, I still don't like vegetables but I eat them anyway.
Probably not the best example but it's a personal one. It's a choice that we make not just something we learn.

that's cool, i was just wondering for curiosity's sake; advancements aren't made in a vacuum after all.
Hope you write a chapter dealing with them torturing info from the traffickers about who they sold children to. Them busting into bluebloods kiddy dungeon and shooting his balls off would be entertaining. He's probably allready selling info to the enemy.
