no idea. So many amazing stories totally abandoned and the person writing them never even bothers to explain why.
This is why I never read anything unless its already complete. This story has been sat in my read later list since last year
and now seems like its doomed to sit in the unfinished story graveyard forever.

In all seriousness, my reason is actually that I'm perpetually doomed to live in "interesting times". Every time I start up a project, something always happens with work, personal life, etc. that just completely runs me off my rails and kills my energy for long periods of time. I've been thinking back fondly on this story though, so let's see how well this goes. -shrug-
