In the beginning Celestia flashed back on Nightmare Moon's banishment, though the words you used were incorrect. When Twilight drinks the potion that only responds to Alicorn Magic (back when the Everfree Forest was expanding), she sees Celesia use the Elements of Harmony to send her sister to the moon.

When I saw how short this was, I was afraid I’m getting myself into a story that will fail to create the proper atmosphere.
