Heck, Pinkie. Admit it, you’re already trying to work out a way to turn them into party mines.
Vampiric Sniper... Are you making a Hellsing Ultimate Reference?
10763063
trying? u know shes already done it...shes Pinkie Pie...
10763090
Only if Fluttershy starts singing.
10763090
Fluttershy isn't a police girl, as far as I know.
Man, the girls are going to have so many neat skills that will be absolutely useless, if not downright detrimental, once they get back.
Huh.
Considering Arkansas (the sniper old man) has a sympathetic backstory of hiding out and revengence-sniping raiders, while terrified of Slaverseho cleared out the town, I thought you'd explore that a bit, maybe preventing the fate ~80% of playthroughs that meet him have him end in (20% have him collared as a guy in Paradise Falls asks).
On the other hand, that the Rainbooms didn't even hesitate, nor even tried to talk him down after subduing non-lethally (which could've worked) shows how far down the slope they moved by now.
ah crap the girls are getting used to using lethal self defense.. the wasteland truly got to them
Finally one of them gets a sniper rifle. Honestly I was expecting sunset to get it but fluttershy was my second choice. Now all she needs is the Chinese stealth suit and she'll be even more scary.
10763113
They absolutely no reason to treat him any different then anyone else shooting at them.
10763422
That they don't.
But that's from a pointedly fallout-y PoV.
The fact they all haven't even tried to diffuse the situation in any manner (not that they'd have had much of a chance to succeed, objectively speaking), really shows how they aren't themselves from the start of the story, is all I'm saying.
Also, unrelated, the way this story seems to aim to re-tell most of the F3 storylines seems a bit... excessive?
When it was just the main story line it was okay-ish, but continuing with the sidequests (and I assume DLCs) really just stretches it beyond what's reasonable, imo.
10763426
The only side-quests that will be followed largely as-is in the main fic will be the Wasteland Survival Guide and Trouble on the Home Front (and, as Night-Quill will be able to tell you, even some of the WSG quests are done a little differently. Next chapter is a doozy). Most other side quests done in the main fic are going to be altered significantly, while the DLCs are going to have their own twists.
10763429
It isn't so much that the fic lacks it's own spin on the quests - it does that quite alright.
The fact that there is too much story with no great "connective tissue" to it, is the problem.
The main quest at least had the constant conflict spurring the characters on, and enabling them to go through some sort of arks.
But now all the enemies they know of are gone, and their motivation is a vague "try to find a thingamajik", which they aren't even pursuing very enthusiastically - instead opting to do sidequests.
It's like a Skytim playthrough where the Player Character goes and does all the sidequests before confronting Alduin.
...Who's literally eating reality if left to his own devices, lore-wise.
By all the common sense, the PC is really ought to focus, and do at most a small amount of the most important ones. Definitely bot having the ability to be leader of all the guilds at once.
But gameplay prevails.
Here, it feels like the "gameplay prevails"-situation, too.
The 'Villains' set up in the background aren't shown actually doing anything, so it's equivalent to a game marking an NPC with a red compass marker and only letting them have some aggressive combat-dialogue, instead of setting them up as an actual antagonist (continuing the analogy - the way the Wnclave swooped in on the Project Purity even before being openly hostile to the player).
Does the story need dealing with Antagoniser/Mechanist situation?
Does it need the Rainbooms going to the Oasis?
Does it need dealing with Anchorage simulation/Brains in Jars in Point Lookout?
F3's side content, Mothership Zeta aside (which could actually be the key to returning back home for the Rainbooms, alright), dosen't add much of a value to the story, imo.
Sure, it'd go in slightly/somewhat/really different manner than in the game, but it'd still end up mostly just padding it out in the end?
10763090
We don't know if Fluttershy loves cannons though.
10763435
An understandable concern. I'll admit, the only real reason the Wasteland Survival Guide is being done is because I really wanted to write it, so in a sense it is filler, but it's also going to be interspersed with elements advancing the plot behind the scenes, along with portions of significant character development for the girls.
Having said that, it won't be long before the next main arc rises, beginning with a big twist right at the end of this arc. I don't want to give away too much, but the girls are going to have their hands full very soon.
10763449
No complaints here, the wasteland guide was one of my favorite side-quests. Not to much, not too little, perfect filler material...
Any chance you'd be willing to do the 'The Dark Heart of Blackhall' sidequest?
10763984
The Dark Heart of Blackhall is going to be plot critical.
Rest in pieces, Arkansas.
10763990
Sorry that ook so long to respond.
Also.... YES!!!
Thank you!

As one of the proofreaders who has some hints about future chapters I can very much say there's a lot happening behind the scenes.
Also where is the implication they're going the way or Skyrim gameplay? They're members of the Brotherhood of Steel, that's about it; the Church of Harmony is something that sprung up beyond their control due to religious lunacy and they're taking some advantage of it like having a place to rest.
Them exploring the Wasteland for the STC is the best they can do for now: No-one knows where to find one, who made it, where it's from, and the Brotherhood and Enclave aren't exactly in the position to spent a lot of time combing the wasteland for something so small when they're trying to rebuild and make good of this newfound peace. Otherwise the girls would just basically be sitting in a military base doing nothing.

The "Skyrim Gameplay" analogy was a little faulty, but only to a point - I have concerns over the fact that, seemingly, literally all of the DLC and most of Side-Quest content is being done on-screen.
It takes up the screen-time, and stretches the story to a degree that seems unreasonable even on as huge a piece as it already is.
Simply put, there is such a thing as too much detail.
The main conflict is done.
Whatever happens from how on, will by default have less impact on the readers, because that was the main questline of F3 and the epilogue DLC you guys just finished. No way around that one, no matter how many enemies are set up in the background with an ominous "asshole got a magic trinket, whoooo"-interludes.
I can see some quests being written out in-detail and it being okay through character interaction and different outcomes from base game.
But I hope against all hope that there would be significant backgrounding, and hopefully even full-on ignoring of some *cough* Anchorage *cough* content, lest the story turns into a meandering slog.
All in all, I just try to give as reasonable a critique as I'm able.
I want this story to be best it can be, and so I throw it out there that, maybe, cutting down on elements that just don't go anywhere even in-game, might be a good idea, instead of struggling to come up with alternative solutions and conflicts.
10765494
Suffice to say, I cannot tell you anything behind the scenes as I'm merely a proofreader and occasional editor.
These girls are worried about rain clouds and drinking Nuka Cola, yet earlier in the story they were all taking showers in Megaton long before they got the purifier working.
10765494
10765583
Ah, I think I see the misunderstanding. While the DLCs are all going to be done on screen, most of the game's side quests are not. The Wasteland Survival Guide and Trouble on the Homefront quests are being done as is, and a few of the other side quests will be touched on as and when makes sense with the storyline, but the big twist at the end of this arc is intended to set up the next main conflicts, with the Fallout Geodes being a part of that.
Most of the game's side quests are, fittingly, being set aside for the Side Stories fic.
10765652
Megaton has its own purifier, one of the side quests in-game early on is actually to fix it.
Mold ? Huh I’d it suppose to be mood or a British phrasing
Mines are really nasty, when they beep start running.
10815760
sorry to say this mate, but when a mine is activated, it's already too late.
it only takes a second or less for the mine to explode after activation otherwise it kinda defeats the point of a landmine
How much did Pinkie adhere to the acid humor (is that the right word?)
