Nah, it's not that rare, it's just that every writer receives a notification when someone favourites a story and some of us (myself included) like to show a little gratitude when it happens by writing on the wall, though some send direct messages instead.

I enjoyed both the stories after having read through what was available, so I went ahead and made sure I won't miss any updates.
Is people favorite'ing stuff on this site is really a rare enough occasion that it warrants a PM of the sort? I am mite new to the site's current culture, having skipped many years' worth of fics.
