Uh....Immortal DOES mean you don't age and CAN'T BE KILLED. You are thinking ageless.
7715336 While you are correct in the definitive sense, when writing, immortality usually means you don't age but can be killed through unnatural means. Vampires, for example. They (typically) remain ageless, but can be killed with a stake through the heart, decapitation, what have you.
Regardless, he's not immortal. I'll explain why later on.
How did you come up with the name Soren?
7717075 Back when I was writing Slices of My Life, I had the main character go without a name for about half the story. No one seemed to like that, so I had to come up with a name. I don't know where Soren came from, I think it may have come from Soarin' or one of the writer's kids' names, but I took that, fell in love with it. I was also watching a play through of Prototype on Youtube, and the character's last name was Mercer, so I put the two names together and it's been my go-to name ever since.
I've also in recent months been the victim of Identity Theft, so legally my name is now Soren.

I hate to disagree, but immortal gods get killed off all the time. In Norse mythology the god Balder died. In greek mythology the immortal god Achilles died. The god Zeus killed an entire pantheon of gods called Titans. Also it is said that blood from the mythical creature known as The Ceryneian Hind when painted onto a blade, will allow that blade to kill any god.
So in short, Immortal does not mean un-killable, it simply means long-lived, un-ageing, and difficult, but not impossible to kill.
My complements to the Author. This is a refreshingly unique spin on the HIE story, and you have also avoided the HIE sins. Im very interested to see where you are going to take this.

7721458 That is actually very helpful, thank you. I can't guarantee, however, that I'll never fall victim to the first sin. I admit I have a fairly limited vocabulary and never really touched a thesaurus so it's bound to slip in every now and then.

You got it backwards. Immortality means you cannot die. Almost no one uses that to mean ageless alone. Usually it's meant as a combo of being unable to be killed and will live forever, with the emphasis on the former.
Edit: Could always use the GURPS terms of Unkillable and Ageless which eliminates all confusion because usually immortal implies both as I said before rather than 1 or the other.
