Interesting that she still seems to keep her obedience trigger separate from the dom/sub training for Twilight. Wonder where she's going with it, because she clearly still plans it as all one big path to total control.

I want to say it will be something for the Crystal Empire, maybe to get her the Heart, but I'm not sure what the orders would be that overall obedience wouldn't get her. It might just be making sure he will be absolutely obedient under duress; could be she simply is teaching him that dragons always obey her in certain circumstances.

One fun possibility would be she wants him to believe he will brainwash others on her behalf. Turn him into an enforcer or robot. Though I would think Twilight would, once property programmed, be a more reliable hypnotist.

I have no idea how you got to the Crystal Heart from that, but it seems a little far-fetched to me. Starlight never talked or even thought about the Crystal Empire in this story as far as I remember.

She already got obedience from Spike, and she's reinforcing it through the hypnosis sessions so doing all this extra work just for that seems a little redundant. I personally think it will be something sexual, and something physical since she worded it as something he'll believe all dragons to have, not just himself specifically (or at least all male dragons).

I guess we'll find out when it's revealed. Hopefully sooner than later.

The crystalling is coming up, that's been mentioned a few times. It's the only upcoming event of any note that we know of, hence my guess that she is planning to activate him at the empire. Just one possibility, though.

Still, I think the thing with Spike is something more personal. I don't see why Starlight would even have any interest in the Crystal Empire (aside from Sunburst, which she mostly made up in this story). After all, at least so far she still seems to be going for revenge on Twilight and her friends, not for world domination.

The impression I got was she totally still wants domination. She thinks the village was a bad idea now and that hypnosis can make the world the way she wants.

She certainly is also interested in revenge on Twilight and friends, however.

It's quite intense in parts, does anyone think the girlfriend idea will have any effect on Starlight at all? I'm wondering if that plays into the overall scheme of things, or whether it becomes more of a plot twist. I'm also really looking forward to Spike's reveal :D

She's always a wild card with mind control, isn't she? Though part of what made Starlight's spell seem so ridiculously OP in the episode was that it worked perfectly on all five of them, including Pinkie, and there was no hint that any managed to resist at all.

Starlight really shows her best traits as a mastermind here, taking Twilight's personality traits and using them into making her accept what they are doing, making her familiar with them while making said traits more relaxing then usual. It was certainly a fun session and handled so well that Twilight earnestly belongs at Starlight's feet.

It's also intriguing to seeing the genuine emotions building between them, even if initially caused by the hypnosis. Twilight is falling in love both with serving Starlight and in Starlight herself. If Starlight's plans keep up, she may very well achieve her plans for Ponyville and beyond. And intriguing to see her plan changing up from what happened in her village. Giving up on her obsession with Cutie Marks certainly shows her growth even while still a villain. This is certainly a better plan, as she makes submission more natural as she uses her victims' personality traits to make it seem natural, rather than forcing who they are down which would bring resistance. It's a solid plan and fun to see carried out.

I could actually see Starlight winning righteously if nothing unexpected happens to put a wrench in her plans. Not just the Mane Six, but all of the citizens and even the Princesses. Heck, with the birth of Flurry Heart on the way, that would give Starlight the perfect heir for her way of thinking without having to even hypnotize her. So many ways this could go; great job at writing her character, plans, and motivations for not only making all this seem plausible, but actually cheery worthy.

In reality, Twilight’s arrival had been a blessing. Equality had been flawed. The other shoe might not have dropped for years, maybe even ten, but with such a flaw, the community would have to fail eventually. Twilight had exposed the flaw far sooner and given Starlight the focus and motivation to that allowed her to find a better answer. Hypnosis could allow her to control the deepest cores of Equestrians, and fix dissonant personality traits that even removal of a cutie mark couldn't solve. She could start again and make Ponyville an even greater town than the Village of Equality. Perhaps all of Equestria would one day become as happy as Twilight was, wrapped around Starlight’s finger.

I really like how this story is going. So many Hypnofics are just horrified clopfics with no plot. Heck, so many clop fics here have no story plot. But this one ...

Starlight had set down her blue gem. Each rep brought his eyes up close to the gem, and then at arm’s length. The zooming in and out of his hypnotic focus and the physical exertion helped pull him ever deeper.

Is there actually magic on this gem? Normal jewelry's hypnotic ability is strictly holywood, not real. Although, since hypnosis is basically focused relaxation, and spike is clearly both focused on his exercise and looking at the gem (after all, the eye does like to have something to look at), ... maybe someone that does exercise routines to the point of exhaustion can comment on whether or not your mind goes "blank"doing lots of reps like that? Mine winds up thinking about my sore body.

Beyond that, her little seed of "trust Starlight" has ... wow. Twilight as a submissive isn't that hard to believe. And, if she is getting sexual pleasure from that ... Well, real world facts: the intense pleasure from sexual activity is a very strong reinforcement for the actions, so if you have some form of sex play more than once, you are actually conditioning yourself to that. Here, Twilight is conditioning herself to be a willing submissive to the person using hypnosis to make her submissive. It's a feedback loop gone crazy, and it's all based on "I can trust her". That bit about "You try so hard to be perfect", which she would recognize as truthful; the "No matter how hard you try, you can't be perfect" is truthful; we've seen Twilight's mane go crazy from worry so many times. The whole "It's easy to be a perfect submissive" is just too perfect for words -- that just fits as Twilight's deep character flaw. We don't see her even begin to relax and accept failure/flaws as normal until season 9.

Will be interesting to see where this story goes from here. Starlight's plan is to hypnotize everyone, but that will be too obvious, and people will find out. Since this isn't an actual mind control spell like Friendship is Mind Control, the "infinitely growing harem" isn't realistic, and if her goal is to reshape society, she only wants to influence/control a few key people rather than everyone.

Your section on Star performing aftercare and making an effort towards softening the "sub drop" is so well done and real. I'm not sure exactly why I've been thinking about it so much recently, but felt the need to come back and comment. Putting this in the story added a lot.

And Star realized the idea of leaving Twilight totally shattered would make her feel bad. Twilight belonged to her, and there was no point in needlessly harming your own possessions.
