I live life deliciously.

Sweet Apple Acres is as old as Ponyville, if not older. The Apple family, led by Granny Smith, has been a pillar of the community for generations. However, for all of the good will that exists for this family there are rumors and stories about them that are only whispered in the shadows. One of the rumors involves what the family does with the money.

Two griffons Leo and Pollo hear the story about the money and decide to rob Sweet Apple Acres.

Pretty creepy and vague, but the payoff is a bit light. I'd have liked it if the confrontation in the farmhouse was drawn out a bit more.
Still good read, I rated it up.

Ah, another HP Lovecraft admirer. :pinkiecrazy:

I happen to have the complete collection of Lovecraft, and while I'd say it stays rather true to his style, it's still dated. More could have been added to increase the scares. I remember reading this one in particular because it was so short and I needed to kill time, but it's lacking fulfillment. It's bite-sized and that's all I can really say about it.

5997865 Yeah, I guess it shows what it is I've been reading these days eh?

5998281 I can't say I disagree with anything you've said. I would note that I think for the ultra short horror story I find that Ray Bradbury was more adept. That's not to say Lovecraft wasn't capable but, most of the time I felt he needed a little more time to get going. "He" for example is a longer short story but, I think worked out a lot better.

If anything though I can keep on trucking and trying different things and who knows, maybe one day I'll do something that scares the jeepers out of some folks.

5997741 Well, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't necessarily disagree with your criticism either. More or less I was just trying to do something short to get the old, writing juices flowing. I really do need to get back to some other stories I was working on, but I do appreciate the comment!

Is it ok that I'm terrified of Granny Smith right now?!

Oh my god, a reference I actually get.

6000090 Nothing wrong with it at all. Besides, it's peach season anyway so it's all safe!

Was this inspired by The Terrible Old Man?

Good premise, but it was too short and less descriptive. I give it a D+.
