Memories are tied to things and once those mementos are destroyed, the memories begin to fade.
Twilight knows that and so she is devastated and hopeless after the destruction of her library and home.
Returning to the ruins of the library in the night after the destruction happened, she tries to salvage what she can from the ashes.
But will she have success? Will she find something that survived the gigantic explosion and the fire that came after it?
Twilight didn't know the answer on these questions, but she knew she had to find something. She just had to.

I read a lot of "Memories are forever" fanfictions that were written for Twilight's library after she got destroyed so I wanted to make a more realistic approach to the tragedy behind the destruction.

After I read, bit my lips quickly before smile is noticable. Then, I immediately left my reading spot to avoid noticed.

Restore, Rebuild, Record, Remember. That's the only way to deal with the loss of the Library, restore what you can, rebuild in honor of what was lost, record your memories, and remember all the good times

I'm happy that I could put a smile on your face! Thanks for reading and thanks for the favourite!

I am surprised Twilight didn't quickly go to the idea of a journal or diary recalling her memories for the day they may fade in the minds of those who experienced them or the deaths of those individuals, but she could just think of it later :P

Twilight does have a point. if Chipry did have some of the those books they would have survived and maybe be traded back later.

DARN YOU PINKIE!:twilightangry2:

I honestly wonder if the writers knew the Library's fate in that episode?

Thanks for your input.

I was considering this idea at one point, but I realized that this would have made the solution to give them all solace I went with at the end and that was my original idea redundant, because they would have already found a way to preserve their memories with such a journal.
And I wanted that they restore the first floor, because it was something no one thought about before in the other fics and because I also wanted to enforce the visual aspect; while having a journal would lead to it that Sweetie Belle can read about it all the time, she would still not be able to see the place where she learned magic anymore.
Which is something Twilight was aware of too; that Sweetie Belle can only preserve her memories on that important moment in her life to 100% when she can still visit and see the place where it happened, which is why she was ruling out this idea in the first place.

Very true. Twilight could have traded them back for some ancient books from the old castle that she will give Chirpy now anyway. But fate (and Pinkie) were against it. :applecry:

An interesting question. I think it was a coincidence. They got the ideas that Pinkie keeps Twilight from trading and that Twilight decides against trading in the end, but they haven't gotten the idea what will happen to the library yet.
It came as a tragic surprise for them too.

Thanks for reading!

My point was more of though she didn't think of it in the story, she likely would later. No need for any more in this story, just a thought I threw out there.

And my point was just to explain her and my reasoning for not reaching out to this idea. The better readers understand the intentions of characters in my stories, the happier I am. I had no intent to change it based on your comment, everything's fine.

That was a really good story.

Thank you and thank you for favouriting the story! :scootangel: I hope reading it made you remember Twilight's Library and that I could also pique your interest for Chirpy Hooves with her appearance at the end.
