Chapter 1, The Part Where Celestia Dies

Work. That's all that me, embodiment of the sun wants. Today is Tuesday, which meant council day… hurrah! Every week it is the same thing. Noble snobs came strutting through the hall and demanded the end of the tyrannical fun! Right now a dull, grey stallion with a bland, bleached mane and sunglasses wanted me to put more money into the 'right choice' rather than decorations for next weeks' parade. I swear, if I had a bit for every noble who-

Red Phantom xXL0Lzah_69Xx has invaded

Celestia shuffled backwards as the flashing message bombarded her eyes. After several more flashes the message left, leaving a rather baffled goddess to figure out what it meant. Celestia turned her head to the left, where her secretary, Raven was sitting.
"Did you see that too-" Celestia stopped, seeing her secretary… and the wall behind her. She waved a hoof towards her, only for it to phase through her. Raven continued to look through her paperwork, not noticing the hoof going through her head. As Celestia continued to mess around with her secretary, she noticed the bipedal figure at the entrance to the hall, the only other being in the room who was not transparent. The figure looked large, with a green aura around its torso, but it was hard to tell it's other features because of the bright wall of fog that replaced the large doors of the hall.

Celestia got from her throne, and walked to the bace where the small fountains where.
"Hello?" She asked.
"…" the being replied, walking forward two steps, it's higher up appendages to its sides, a small shield in one hand, and a great-sword that's possibly bigger than himself in the other. This motion, although silent, said all that needed to be said.
"well, what is it?'

The biped then grasped the over-sized weapon with both hands, shield on back, charging straight towards the princess. Celestia took this time carefully, studying its features. It's armour, like its sword, was ridiculously over-sized compared to its small, glowing shield. It's face was covered with a strange mask of a foreign being that had an expression of constant agony. It also had a strange crest on its chest. It was red and blue with a strange presumed weapon and a strange text reading MLG.

Celestia's common sense finally kicked-in, and she flared her horn, teleporting to the side of the assailant. The attacker locked-on to Celestia again, being cautious of showing her it's back. It's hand caught ablaze, startling the princess. Celestia then formed a protective shield around herself as she was bombarded with fire. Celestia thought about teleporting again, but the fire subsided, revealing the would-be assassin, doing its gesture again. Celestia took this time to act, sending a bolt of magic towards the assailant. The blast staggered him, stopping his taunt. Celestia decided it was best to try again, her horn flarling. As she launched the blast however, the armour-clad figure got out a small, white object. He then put his arms to his chest, and blasted out a large shockwave of light, sending the magic bolt back at the princess who was too shocked by the fast action to defend herself.

The magic collided with her chest, sending her to the far side of the room. Celestia tried to get up, but the brass-assassin charged towards her, slicing his extremely large sword downwards, slashing Celestia into her grave. The goddess took her last moments looking at the victor, who did his taunt again. Her vision became blackened and another message materialized before her.

YOU DIED

Celestia's eyes closed for the final time, and her body slumped to the floor, her final thoughts looking to a message where the victor stood.

THE LEGEND NEVER DIES!!!

Celestia opened her sore eyes. She slowly looked at her surroundings. She was in some kind of prison detainment cell. At the far-end corner of the room where a few small boxes and a wooden bucket for Faust-knows-what. The room looked extremely old, as the hundreds of bricks decayed, moss dangled from the ceiling, and the moans and cries of other beings caught her attention. Celestia looked down at herself. Her body was ragged. Large patches of fur was missing. Her beautiful, alabaster coat was a damp, unclean grey. Her sparkling, rainbow mane and tail had parts missing, the spectrum was now dull, covered in dust, dirt, and split ends.

She tried to lift herself up, but she hurt too much. When she tried to use projectile spells to break the rusted, iron door, her horn fizzled. When she tried to cry out for help, all that came out was a croak. A single, small, dehydrated tear rolled down Celestia's cheek as reality sunk onto her, as she slowly curled up into a small, depressed, uncomfortable ball.

It was like this for possible an hour, or ten minutes, or maybe days. The sun never set, and the moon never rose. As sanity was almost milked dry from her, footsteps where heard. Not from the strange creatures outside her cell, but above her. Celestia rose slightly, and her eyes widened. An armoured figure was above the barred skylight. Not the assassin from before. And even though its face was sealed, it brought hope to Celestia.

The warrior then moved to his right, and dropped an object through the bars. Then… he left. Celestia blinked her sore, hollowed eyes in shock, hope flooding in. She moved towards the object, a corpse. It had a strange, but heart-warming glowing ball from its back. Celestia then put her hoof on the orb, a key emerging from the hollowed body. Tears streaked down her cheeks at her newfound hope. She focused all her effort onto the divine blessing, several sparks spewing out of her horn. But then it worked! The key lifted from the ground, and into the keyhole. The holy object turned, unlocking her rusting door. Celestia scrambled to her feet, tears freely flowing from her face.

Celestia took her first look outside her cell. Rats scampered through cracks and holes in the walls, several bipedal figures stood static, their hands covering their grotesque faces. She limped though the hallway, seeing the aimlessly stomping demon through several iron bars. She kept a small, rusted hilt of a sword in her magic grip. It may serve no protection, but possessions give hope. And in a world like this, where hope is scarce and insane monsters lurk around, hope can be your greatest companion.

Author's Note:

I started writing this at 11 PM. It's now half 12 in England. So if you see any errors tell me, I don't mind at all.
Anyway, I really hope you enjoyed this as much as I loved writing this!

A sequel… I somehow never thought of that. :twilightblush:

-Lightning \[T]/

This feels more like the setup for a multi-chapter half-comedy epic based on Dark Souls rather than a one shot.

4804155
I suppose so, but extremely sleepy Lightning thought otherwise.
Maybe I should make this a series… I am going to need a Red Bull!

Oh… what a coincidence :rainbowkiss:

-Lightning \[T]/

You understand that with putting chapter 1 in the chapter title, you are now contractually obligated to remove that completed tag and make this a full fledged story. :trixieshiftright:

4802643 Indeed.. The legend never dies, but you can't stop the rock!

5227825 I Giant Dad approve of this story!

I'm faving this story, because I'm gonna assume you'll continue it. I mean, you're not some kind of casul are you?

Are You?

6265818
Sorry I'm late! Yes, I am the author (made a seond account to experiment writing clop because I was embarrassed, but after a while writing there I decided to make it my 'mane' account)
Anyway, yeah, I started writing a sequel around a year ago. I will do some heavy editing, finish it and upload it to this account.

And no, I am not a casual. 700+ hours on Dark Souls 2. Over 1000 if you count Dark Souls 2

6279068 Good. Very good.
