We once had a cat that would eat corn above all else and my last dog was addicted to potato chips, we named him Chip because of it
I love the jumps between action happening now/slightly earlier and the flashbacks to the planning and right before its execution. Genius!
And here I thought this story wasn't going to make me cry...
I haven't laughed this much at this story since
So many emotions.
This actually worked pretty well with this chapter
The last chapter is going to come out on the first day of school. Augh.
3144344
Why does everyone else's school start so late? I started like 3 weeks ago
Aww. Little Gloom is there too. Author avatar detected!
"The Fart" - oh my sides
And, that's it! Littlepip is dead! Burnt to death by Spike! Thanks for reading
3143365
That's not really a guarantee they can digest it and actually get nutrients from it, you know.
> [ S ] Galvanize.
It would make such an awesome flash...
I remember that the first time I read through this the bizarre chronology Kkat sometimes uses was confusing to me.
One reading of Homestuck later, and this fic is friggin' tame XD
One more chapter to go...
The Virtue of Littlepip. It makes me cry all of the tears.
The Fart.
Priceless!

Yes, I know 'bout Raul
Possibly the most touching moment in the story for me. The Enclave aren't the only ones that can act as one when feeling threatened.
I love this chapter so much. Nearly every Chekhov's Gun being fired off at once. The true way the Elements of Harmony work (accepted into my headcanon, as it's the only way Nightmare Moon's line from the pilot makes sense). Littlepip's special talent. Everyone working together for the final battle.
Such an awesome chapter.
I think I broke my arm from punching the air so much during the fight scenes in this chapter, and I am pretty postive I busted a gut laughing at everything. I also felt tons of pride at the reasons for the elements working speech by Spike. This is the endgame and like some really good stories we have everybody come back for the big finale!
I cried a lot in these chapters
Great!!

Did it say what color the shield surrounding Neighvarro was? The one surrounding the SPP is red, but what color was the one surrounding the base?
3147866 I think it was blue...
Thank you, everyone, for all the awesome comments!
All of my love.
With a special thanks to 3148665! Your comments are amazing! Thank you SO much!
3148234 Thanks
Definitely one of the best chapters in the story.

I was thinking more along the lines of this:
But that works pretty well, too.
But definitely this for the last bits at the end of the chapter, with Pip flying with Spike though the battle and then working through hell to get into the tower:
I cracked up. As always, the way you tweak callbacks to fit the story is glorious. A little sad that the ride is almost over, but only because it's been such a joy throughout. Definitely a story that warrants the following it has.
In this chapter...
Anyone else remember that recording from the Red Racer Factory?
THAT WAS FROM CHAPTER 19. THIS IS CHAPTER 44. LUNA DAMN, KKAT.
And the Icing on the cake...
Oh gawd, I can't stop laughing!
I love your sneaky little references. My first read-through was before I had seen most of Season 2, and so now I keep finding more and more of these little homages that I previously didn't even realize existed.
3149062
Amazing, isn't it? I have only accomplished a fraction of a fraction of what you have here, but the few praising comments I recieve... Such a warm, beautiful feeling. I can only imagine how wondrous it would be for you. But hey, you deserve each and every piece of it, and then some. Writing is magic, and you are every bit a true alicorn.
SPOILERS
The spoiler on the previous chapter was a spoiler.
Yeah. It's not really your best plan. Pretty desperate, really.
I've seen people making statements about what Littlepip's worst failing is. Arbu is an obvious choice, of course, with the bullets of fire and wiping out an entire town and all. But there she was angry, and killing murderous cannibals. Not her finest hour, but not her worst, either. Bucklyn Cross, where she was basically a bandit, of course would also come to mind. But there was a war going on, between the Steel Rangers and the Outcasts, and there's no ambiguity as to which side she was allied with. When you're at war, you don't get to complain when the enemy kills you. Even if the enemy should have left you alone. And in both cases, she recognized that she had erred. That's the most important step towards learning. Autumn's death also came up. but honesty has a time and a place, and sometimes it is necessary to break a promise. It wasn't pretty, what she did, but it was what she had to do.
I say that this is her worst failing. She left those hellhounds behind out of racism, pure and simple. And when she was called on it, she tried to make excuses.
So, let it be said explicitly, in case the subtext was not clear: I do not believe you.
Wise words, indeed.
It is slightly inconvenient having a weapon that can be defeated by bad weather.
At least it is when you don't have an weather god ally.
It's nice to have enemies who aren't fundamentally ideologically incompatible with you, and who are smart enough to learn.
Always. Nothing less than perfection deserves complacency.
It's nice to properly make your acquaintance, Lion. Don't mind Littlepip; she has a habit of overreacting to ghouls.
He knows.
Now he must die.
Fun fact: a common Martian saying holds that the most frightening words of all are "trust me." It is less often pointed out that "we trust you" can be just as bad.
But they will, soon enough.
There's no better time to settle a score than during a war. You just need to make sure to time it right; the three-body problem is not much simpler in warfare than it is in physics.
Have I mentioned that I like Mouse?
Together, we are strong. Why would we ever be alone?
We can save all of the Wasteland, but not all at once. There is a line between "driven" and "stupid."
At long last, Spike's hoard has become his true treasure.
Reminds me of The Ambassador's Son (this is a lie; it actually reminds me of King of Diamonds). Pig Iron's hoard . . . I was a little disappointed to be so unambiguously shown what is most precious to him, but the moral ambiguity was unstable to begin with.
You've got to get used to this hero thing. It means you keep making friends and fans, and you can't stop them from helping.
You don't want to go up against a goth. They're more at home plaguing you after their deaths than before.
Children.
Or maybe she just talked to somebody who listens to the radio, or knows Littlepip or Homage. It's not exactly a secret that the Stable Dweller and DJ Pon3's assistant are an item.
Gawd knows which way the wind blows. You don't make it far as a mercenary if you can't. And the wind blows pretty strongly in favor of being your ally.
Well she can't just leave a hostile power in charge of the best available industrial center, or allow one to destroy it. That would hardly be in line with her intention to fix things.
I remember thinking for a while that Littlepip's talent was learning. She did pick up survival skills very quickly, after all. And her cutie mark just screamed "misinterpreted."
This is a great exchange.
The answer was "improvise," right? She is better at all those other things, though. And "improvise" is a stupid plan for getting through an impenetrable shield.
The best kind of weapon.
I've often thought that the idea of a misunderstood cutie mark is too much of a trope in MLP fanfiction. And admittedly, it's not that common of a trope. But you only get a cutie mark when you figure out what makes you special, and that realization should ensure that you don't need to see your cutie mark at all to know what it means.
So far as I can remember, this was the first and still the only story I've read where a misunderstood cutie mark was used well.
Enclave's not all bad.
Long distance relationships are hard. But sometimes they do work.
Friendship is strength. Friendship is guidance. And everypony's going to need all they can get of that tomorrow. If you don't come out and join the party, you'll regret it for sure.
It's not easy, when you have to betray your family. Even if you don't do it personally.
I get the sense that Calamity's dad just grew as a pony, a little bit.
Now you have been burned by a dragon. Now you know pain.
i cant bring myself to read the last chapter, i feel like ive been on this huge journey wit little pip, and i dont want it to end...
I don't know why, but I feel as though the quality of it drops drastically here. Still great, but not nearly as good as it was five chapters ago. And the forty before it.
This chapter... Yeesh. And the Homage bit...
Feels.
Also, I've been waiting FOREVER for that Sparkle-Col RAD to be used for something. Not as big as what I was thinking, but at least it did something vital/important. lol
Question: why doesn't Littlepip have any tracking spells, or something like that? It certainly seems like unicorns can instinctively do talent-related magic without needing to learn it or even (at least in the case of Twilight and Rarity) try to do it.
I know, I know, the answer is probably "because the story demanded it," but I'd really love a better justification.
SPOILERS
I hate to be picky here... but Butcher died earlier in the battle, then just mysteriously reappeared in Spike's cave.
EDIT... Never mind, I missed a time transition even after double checking... looked a third time and the order is correct. Don't mind me...
Wait, what?
Apparently Gloom's special talent is Gaydar... Though it may be truth, for example I heard about the lesbian way of eating yoghurt.
Why not all of the above? xD
Chills ran down my spine...
A different kind of spark.
Mmmmmph.
This story, I swear...
I'd feel flattered. But I'm not Littlepip.
...Is this guy named after a 200 year old sugary pastry?
Plesant memories of good deals and investments come to mind at this quote. Also I added in a link to the official audio for no reason other than because I can.
This name makes more senes here than in the games. ...Or I missed some lore while playing.
I love the thing you just referenced. LOVE IT.
LittlePip, respect for respecting the dead, even the evil dead.
Tell me there is a picture or poster of this.
Stop leaning on the fourth wall! If it cracks, Pinkie Pie escapes into our universe.
4267949 Crap, you used some of my jokes. Let's see if I can... Here we go;
(Retracts used jokes)
Brings a tear to my eye, like how LIBERTY PRIME is the number one assistant against the communist threat, fighting for AMER-I-CA.
Suddenly LittlePip's intelligence jokes up 2 because since she left Stable 2 half of her thought processes have been on both these things.
Democracy is truth. Communism is death.
The entire story in 4 sentences, ladies and gentlemen.
I'm with LittlePip, I don't think you know what that word means.
*One google search later*
Turns out, it is not only used to refer to a layer of a protective coating over a metal.
My LittlePip and Homage Ship just crashed into an oil rig and exploded. That is not a bad thing.
It ends how it began.
And that mean running away
1. Meant.
So LilPip went and gone from the frying pan and into the literal oven fire. I have absolutely no idea how being set on fire was going to do it but somehow, you make it work. Next chapter.
I loved the transition scenes from the battle to two days ago and back again. It really does highlight the points if both the calm before the storm and the actual storm. If there is any scene that delivers how something big is going down, this is how you do it, with a badass story, good plot (for LilPip) and a whole lot of determination mixed with a healthy dose of feels.
LITTLE PIIIIIIIIIIIIIP!!!!
Canterlocks for Life!
I knew it. I hope she gets to see #8 before the end. It must have been very awkward for Life Bloom to see #8 not being a mare, and with no interest in them at all.
Reggie confirmed as Button Mash of Griffons. This gives me new hopes for a great future if he comes back.
These are some of the best inner dialogues I have ever read. Right up there with Stephen King.
Littlepip does like eating flowers. Some also call them fish tacos...
The greatest line in either franchise. You know it, everyone knows it, I don't really need to praise this. You know all the implications of this.
I move, for no man. Tis but a scratch!
Shut up! All of you, shut the hell up!
Littlepip is the pervert in my head.
From Life Bloom?...Low hanging fruit man, but then again that's most of my comments right?
Okay, what happens now? Next chapter.
Have I ever said that I bucking love Gloom? No? Well here we are. Also I really love the bits with Littlepip being embarrassed. So cute, plus thats probably how I would react in those situations were I in her hooves.
Is Fallout this depressing too?
Yeah, I've asked myself that question alot during this story.
4739057 Pretty much yeah. There are some good and happy moments, there they are few and hard to find.
I'd love to see the conversation where Rainbowdash convinced the MoA that the best way to protect their big project was to make a barrier where the only way to get through was to light yourself on fire and where she convinced the ministry of arcane knowledge (forgot the acronym) to actually make it.
Ever since Blackwing was introduced, I have noticed that "he" and "she" are used equally with the griffon.
With how popular this is, I would have thought little errors like that would have been stamped out.
I really liked these little tidbits. History repeating itself.
W-w-WHAT?
No...Littlepip what are you doing...stop...
Littlepip, you maniac, I fucking love you.
