Our story begins when a face resurfaces in Equestria. When a weathered, scarred, but familiar face steps into the light.

This is the fanfic based on Astringe's Bad Future series on DeviantART. He did some great designs of the characters, so make sure you give that gallery a peruse before you read the fic.

Also worth mentioning, he's been nice enough to plop any pics he does based on chapters I've written into this separate gallery, so there will be less spoilers for readers just jumping in to the story.

NOTE: The canon of my story picks up at the start of Season 3, where it begins to diverge away from the canon of the show. I've never read the IDW comics nor have I seen Equestria Girls, so the events of my story aren't canon at all with them.

Snails has a problem - he's been getting headaches, a lot of them, that keep him from sleeping. Trixie is quickly able to identify the problem: He isn't using enough magic, and it's building up. All Snails has to do is use more magic, and the headaches will go away. Of course, the Great and Powerful Trixie is more than willing to train a foal in the use of magic - after all, she's already training Dinky. What's one more?

...wait, why are there seven foals? Help!

Applejack knew that Apple Bloom was growing up, and she knew that one day it would be her job to tell her about where baby ponies come from, why she suddenly has weird feelings for colts (or fillies, maybe), and what happens to mares every summer that brings the previous two facts full circle. She just didn't think that time would be now. And she also didn't think she'd have to tell her sister's two best friends about it at the same time.

In hindsight, Rarity probably wasn't the best pony to run to for help.

Sunset Shimmer finally got her hands on Twilight's crown, and was ready to unleash it's unbound power onto Equestria. However, when she puts it on she notices that it did not turn her into an all powerful demon like she was expecting. It's clearly because she wore it wrong and not because the physical crown is useless and the real magic comes from Twilight and her friends right?...

Right?...

After teaching at Ponyville Elementary for many years, Cheerilee has been told that she must retire. As she walks home from the schoolhouse for the last time, she questions whether or not she's made a difference in the world.

When Raindrops takes Snails to Canterlot, her only thought is having a fun day with her little brother. Unfortunately, with the arrival of a mysterious force that seems to be abducting ponies out of their homes, the capital of Equestria has become a dangerous place. Cut off from support and unable to return to Ponyville, Raindrops must work with Cheerilee, Carrot Top, a government official, and one of her most hated enemies in order to protect her brother, stop the disappearances and keep the city safe. But they'll have to move fast, because the number of vanished ponies is steadily increasing... and it could soon include the Ponyville visitors as well. Lunaverse story.

It's always weird to have to use the bathroom in someone else's home.
The sink might be in a different place, or the tub might be the wrong shape, or maybe they install their toilet paper over instead of under.
So many little differences that can make the experience weird and off-putting.

But that's just normal bathrooms.

It's especially weird when said person is so rich that their bathroom alone is bigger than your entire house.

Even more so when they're so old and eccentric you can't tell the artsy decor from the functional fixtures.
