"And if you'd only seen what he did to the Family, the way he killed them... that guy's crazy."
"And if you'd only seen what he did to the Family, the way he killed them... that guy's crazy."
The dreaded day we all feared has finally come, another delay!
Ashamed to admit, I'm way more proud of that title than I should be. So the May Pairing Contest was something I saw advertised last year, and on a whim, I thought I'd give it a shot since trying to figure out the dynamics of two characters you never see interact in the show itself is an interesting writing challenge. What came out was Plus Ones, and although I wasn't completely satisfied with the story it did receive a good amount of praise.
From now on, I will post a Literature Report every month. What is a Literature Report? To summarize, it is just comparing a MLP fanfic and a literature book that seems to have similarities with the fanfic. I will write like this.
1. About the Fanfic
2. About the Literature Book
3. Similarities of the fanfic and the literature book
4. Compatibility of the fanfic and the literature book(Just for fun! There is no special meaning for this. XD)
(First things first: If you'd like a little mental exercise this weekend, Prawo Jazdy posted some nifty episode-name-based brainteasers. Click through and engage your puzzle gears!)
A (relatively) long time ago, in the exact same house I'm in right now, I wrote the start of a really crappy MLP fanfic. It has gone unpublished for good reason, but I do remember one section that I was actually legitimately proud of; two paragraphs or so of description as the Mane Six walk back to Ponyville from Canterlot. (because this was before Season 2; and the train hadn't yet become a common thing.)
While I was going crazy putting together an entry for this weekend's Writeoff Association competition (check out the 36 submitted stories here! There's currently a preliminary round, and voting on the finalists will be open to the public next week), another brony was out there doing something y'all should appreciate!
A couple weeks ago, I announced a FlutterDash contest here in my blog. The contest's writing period ends on Monday, October 3rd, so there are just 9 days left. There is a $60 cash prize associated with the contest, not to mention me reviewing your story if you want (clearly the best prize ).
I've had this enormous plot bunny ever since the release of Legend of Everfree. The summary goes as such:
A few days after the Gaia Everfree incident, monsters from another dimension appear at Canterlot City every Friday night. Sunset Shimmer was unfortunate enough to encounter one on her way home, but is saved by a mysterious cloaked duo who call themselves the Phantom Guardians. She pursues the two for several days, trying to get information on the monster hunters' identities.
So today's new episode, "Buckball Season," was a cute and fun one, but it doubly catches my attention, because as it happens, I've long had an idea for a fanfic that runs freakishly similar to it.
I had thought I had made mention to it's existence before way back in my early days on this site, but upon reviewing my archived blog posts, that clearly wasn't the case, so here's a quick run through:
So, Tennis Match Fan, a crazy person who I often has strange convesations with friend of mine, wrote a story as a birthday* gift for me!
It's a weird but fun story in which Flash Sentry becomes a midwife and helps bring Flurry Heart into the world. Yes, you read that correctly.
I humbly present my Halloween 2018 full cast fanfic reading special.
Prince Blueblood has an inherent love for the orchestra, but he does not care to attend the symphony. He would much rather have ... private performances. And if his pet musicians won't perform for him? Well then, that just means they need to be punished, doesn't it?
There was a loud crunch that nearly made Roxy jump out of her skin. Her frantic eyes scanned their surroundings until she saw a tree not too far away snap and fall to the ground. It made a tremendous, frightening crash as it hit the forest floor. One brave Pikachu ran forward to the tree to investigate.
Taka grunted quietly and then returned to looking down at Roxy. He then took a step to the side, allowing her to see the training area behind him, and gestured outwards with his paw. "Show me what you are capable of."
Roxy blinked, glancing at him and the many targets and objects. "Wh-what?"
"I said, show me what you are capable of."
Thanks to the wonderful Spore Harvest my story "Human, It's Cold Outside" now has a fanfic reading on YouTube, which can be found HERE.
Want some Luna and Celestia cuddles but too lazy to read? There's your solution :D
As part of my other projects, here is a list of almost everything my friends and I have come up with for magic and abilities in Equestria among the ponies. Feel free to use these for your own stories, suggest your own, or put together snippets for the E3 fanfic project. And here we go!
The main area of the dock was full of families, human and Pokémon alike, all waving goodbye to passengers that were on the boat. Roxy only cared about the singular Pikachu at the end of the dock, though. Already the boat was starting to speed up, taking her away from him faster and faster.
"Taka!!" she shouted loudly while also hopping off of Vi's back, "What is wrong with you?!"
The Pikachu paused and turned back to her, but didn't say anything. He merely crossed his forelimbs again.
Over the course of the year spent re-reading and revising my work, I've realized my work is pretty cringe. Now, it's not much of a shocker, there's plenty of crazy stories out there and mine happens to be them.
Pinkie is up at the main website! :D
