With the new tag directory, the previous counting method has been rendered obsolete. However, it is at least instructive to get a snapshot of how well certain tags are doing at the point of transition between months, so the comparisons will continue.
Listed below are the character tags by story count. You can get an idea of relative interest from looking at the list, which has been divided logarithmically (i.e. starts with tens of thousands, then progresses to thousands, then to hundreds, then to tens, etc.).
PLEASE NOTE: The counts aren't always exact. There have been cases where the actual count is one story greater than what the directory records. However, since the discrepancy is so minor, I figure it's simply easier (for now) to post this caveat and let people check individual accounts for themselves.

I just wish it was an exact tag directory. It's a nuisance having to check individual ones, especially at the bottom of the list.

All right, here is the last batch of statistics for the character tags, including those relevant to this TAGC group. While it's not been a great year for graduations and such, it's at least entertaining and instructive to keep track of the overall pattern of tags and their frequency over time. And when all's said and done, quantity has its fine points, but quality matters too. That's not a principle to lose sight of, especially when considering these counts.
Newest tag identified: Prince Rutherford was added last month. Unfortunately, that does mean the zero-stories category is back. Ah well.
Perhaps there will be more surprises in 2019? We'll have to wait and see. For now, have a Happy New Year!
