A sweeping epic taking place before Equestria was made, where Celestia and Luna must rise from normal foals to become the Princesses we know them as, beset from all sides by monsters, other ponies, and even the forces that govern nature. Their tale is as tragic as it is triumphant.

Rainbow Dash, best pony, fastest flier in Equestria, all around awesome mare, was called upon to help with the wedding of her friend's big brother. And hey, she never leaves her friends hanging! Of course, when it turned out some kind of bug thing had replaced the bride, Rainbow was more then ready to fight. Heck, even after it seemed all hope was lost, the pegasus refused to give up.

So when she saw Shining Armor charge up a final spell, she smirked.

But when that spell reached her and flung her against the wall, her smirk devolved into shock...

It is Twilight Sparkle's first night as a princess of Equestria, and she cannot sleep. As the excitement she felt during coronation fades away, it gives way to a deeper anxiety. The young alicorn lies awake, her thoughts dwelling on her new destiny, her responsibilities, her fears, and her own mortality.

Or, as the case may be, her lack of it.

As morning draws nearer, Twilight leaves her bed haunted by a question, and so she decides to seek out the one pony who can answer it.

Scootaloo is worried about her wings. They're so small - what if there's something wrong with them? Worry turns into anxiety. What if she'll never be able to fly? That thought scares her more than anything.

I started this several months ago, dropped it, then picked it back up again a few days ago just to see if I could get another thing out. Please note that this is what I like to call bleakfic, as in, it's not going to be very uplifting, and that this is also a very experimental fic, so certain rules of writing and English in general have been intentionally ignored for pretention artistic effect. After her fateful encounter with the Ursa Minor, Trixie finds herself alone in the Everfree Forest, hungry and tired, and with her wagon destroyed. Trixie must make her way through the Forest, and find a place to start over after losing everything. The Everfree is a dangerous place, however, and some parts of it are darker than others...

Fair warning: there is a spoiler after the break.

A short, first person, single chapter Trixiefic written as an exercise of a long unused writing muscle. Ties in with Story of the Blanks, but foreknowledge of that story is not needed to enjoy this one.
