On a winter night coming back from Canterlot, Twilight and Spike discover a small igloo at the edge of Ponyville proper, and its occupant turns out to be a familiar cerulean stallion. It is through curry that an already existing friendship between fellow outsiders expands to that of another. Twilight on the other hoof overcomes her aversion towards spicy food, at least for the time being.

Leaf Blade wakes up in the Everfree Forest as a statue with a manacle covering his neck, a strange hunger and no memory of how he ended up there in the first place to a zebra and her earth pony apprentice.

A hundred years into the present day, Apple Bloom is sent into the Everfree Forest for some reagents but is ambushed by timberwolves and survives the encounter because of a magic necklace from Zecora. She eventually meets a hungry, furless minotaur wearing a heavy manacle on his neck.
