Ahuizotl has the last of the Rings of Scorchero. Will the adventurer and hero Daring Do manage to stop him in time?
Quick answer: Nope
The first time we danced, she broke my jaw in three places.
The life of a disposable minion in the service to the Dread Ahuizotl is filled with acts of senseless violence and hardship, normally ending in a hospital or unmarked grave, but for Disposable Minion #3, the job just got more interesting.
He fell in love.
And love hurts.

Twilight Sparkle accompanies Rainbow Dash to Canterlot for a book signing of Daring Do. While there, the popular series' author, Twilight Velvet - Twilight Sparkle's mother - reveals a story about Daring that Twilight never knew existed.
Is meeting your hero always such a good thing? How can they ever live up to your image of them if you view them on a pedestal?
While attending Daring Do's panel at a convention in Canterlot, Rainbow Dash wins a contest. The prize? A chance to join the famed archaeologist's team as an assistant on her next expedition. Naturally, Rainbow Dash is thrilled at the idea of an adventure with Daring Do, knowing that the archeologist bases her books on real events. As Rainbow gets to know Daring and her rag tag team of explorers though, she gets the feeling of dissent among the ranks.
Soon, the expedition proves to be more dangerous than anticipated, with a mysterious and dangerous cult after the same artifact as Daring. Rainbow Dash has to stop them while facing the reality that Daring Do may not be the hero her books make her out to be.
Big, big shout out to IFLYSNA94 on Deviantart for letting me use his cute art!
Also, I am well aware of the existence of the S4 episode of the same name (having been keeping up with the show like any self-respecting Brony). At the time of conceiving/writing this story though, I had no idea there would even be another Daring Do episode!
Daring Do has never turned away from a challenge. But when she finds herself trapped beneath an ancient temple with a haunted artifact, she may end up wishing she'd stayed home instead.

Legends tell of an ancient hippogriff ruler, Queen Rozenn Thunderstruck, who was said to possess an enchanted harp that was able to alter the weather with a simple pluck of its strings. The harp was last seen centuries ago when it was being transported aboard a ship under armed guard. The ship and the harp mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen since. The queen's descendant, Marion, has made it her life's goal to recover the harp, but has had very little success.
At her wit's end, Marion seeks out the legendary treasure hunter, Daring Do, in hopes that the seasoned adventurer may be able to succeed where she has failed.
After suffering a severe incapacitating anxiety attack on one of her quests, Daring Do runs away to be in solitude. The jungle safeguards her and lull's her into a trance. But the trance is broken when Daring realizes that if she does not leave, she will die and be forgotten, like dead leaves blown away in the wind.
(Although this is not really a "dark story" per-say, the themes addressed in it are on the mature side.)
