He's been reassigned so many times as to have a file thicker than his armor. There are ponies who doubt his ability to cross a room without creating a disaster, and he's one of them. Banishment to Moon is in fact too good for him. He's the single least suitable member in the history of the Crystal Guard, and history had better be prepared to take on eternity if it's ever going to see him surpassed. Because Flash Sentry starts every morning with a silent declaration of I'll get fired today and goes to sleep on I'll be fired tomorrow.

Or maybe that's more of a prayer.

Princess Cadance is ready to take another step with an important aspect of love: generous donations to the Crystal Empire's technically thousand-plus year old orphanage and animal shelter. If some lucky ponies find their soulmates through the event, all the better to go forward with it.

Some of her guards get yanked into the list of candidates, including Commander Flash Sentry. He is told that it's going to be a fun time, but he's not so sure. The situation turns even more serious when he finds out the identity of the mare that is essentially buying his time.

Contrary to Cadance's desires, this is not a love story.

Twilight was sure she didn't stand a chance with him. Flash was Certain that he wasn't good enough. That was the straw that Broke Shining's back as he played matchmaker... for a change, and set them up, unknowingly starting a whole series of events that would break his sister's heart and his subordinate's mind.

Flash would readily admit that he’d been looking forward to his assignment in the Crystal Empire much more before the revelation that he’d be directly involved with keeping his boss’s wife safe- it left no room for error if you wanted to keep your job. However, when Cadance stumbles upon him and decides he's going to be her new friend, he's wholly unprepared for the sneaky princess's matchmaking mischief.

Written for the 2015 Everfree Northwest Writing Competition originally, but I fell asleep the night submissions were due and it didn't get approved until after, so I didn't get it sent in... Ah well, no way it would've won anyway.

Flash Sentry and Twilight Sparkle dance around their feelings for each other, but they along with Twilight's friends are faced with a difficult task when Legendary Shadow Ponies begin invading Equestria at the Behest of the Shadow Queen. Can Twilight sparkle Use her abilities to put an end to the attack of the Shadow Queen or will Equestria fall to an even deeper darkness then that promised by Nightmare Moon?

Flash Sentry is about to introduce his parents to his marefriend Twilight Sparkle and her dragon Spike. On the way, he recaps to how he got to where he is today.Even before he was a royal guard, Flash had to fight in all sorts of battles From schoolyard bullies, protecting his best friend Agua ,to battling heartbreak after heartbreak , Flash has had a life that was anything but ordinary.

Twilight Sparkle is worried that the only stallion she ever thought of liking has gone MIA. Twilight thinks there is still a chance for him to be alive but here's the thing, he has been missing for seven months with no clues to say if he is alive or not. Will they find Flash Sentry and will he pursue a certain mare, read to find out.

Celestia has a nightmare about an old friend that warns her that he's coming to seek revenge by kidnapping Twilight and now it's up to Celestia the rest of the main six, and Flash Sentry to save her.

Princess Cadence decides to play matchmaker again; she organizes a visit to Ponyville to have a brunch with Twilight and her friends (like what Princess Celesita did when Fluttershy stole Philomena). She brings along Flash Sentry as her bodyguard, although her real intention is to hook him up with her sister-in-law.

Will she succeed with her plan? And will Twilight and Flash become a couple?

On their wedding night, as they experienced the afterglow of their love making, a young alicorn princess and a young royal guard officer contemplate with each other on how two ordinary ponies such as themselves were blessed with so much.
