After a long day of hanging out with Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash drifts off to sleep, only to find that she isn't in Equestria anymore. Then, when Pinkie Pie, the only other pony there, is separated from Rainbow Dash. it's up to her to find and rescue her from whatever might be waiting. Friendshipping. Based on the scene at the very end of "The Last Roundup": Pinkie Pie and Rarity are left stranded in the Badlands, their long and agonizing journey home requiring them to spend a night alone in the desert. It is here that the latter discovers a painful secret hidden beneath her friend's constant cheerful demeanor.

Despite not being the one famous for bringing a smile to everypony's face wherever she goes, the exhausted (and most unacceptably filthy) fashionista does everything in her power to make her happy again...

Pinkie saw that darker side on full display in Manehattan, and it has changed her view on a lot of things. After returning to Ponyville, Pinkie goes to her family's rock farm to have a talk with her sister, Inkie, who has a new cutie mark on her flank...

Young Nictis had one dream: to serve his hive by becoming an Infiltrator, the most vital and vaunted role a changeling could aspire to. To hide in plain sight among the other species, blending in, while gathering the vital emotional energies that fueled his people. Few were deemed worthy of the dangerous job. He was one of the few nymphs selected for training, in the hopes that one of them would develop the skills needed to be entrusted with such a treacherous task.

But when a training expedition ends in tragedy, Nictis finds himself thrust into the role not to serve his hive and people, but to preserve his own life. Separated from the hive, alone, he must put what little training he has to the test. He must blend in with the hive's greatest source of food, and its most dangerous enemy: the ponies of Equestria.

(This story takes place in the same continuity as Fragments, but stands on its own. Reading that story isn't necessary for this one.)

Tempers flare, relationships are strained, and the strength of their friendship is tested as each must come to terms with her newfound sterility.

Pinkie Pie loves her family: her mom, her dad, her sisters, and her grandmothers. She loves them to death, but one day Inkie and Blinkie come by to deliver some heartwrenching news, she's adopted.

Now Pinkie goes off with her sisters to find her real parents and to answer an age old question, is it blood that makes a family, or is it love that matters in what is a family.

In the warmth of her cloud home, Rainbow Dash is about to turn in for the night when she hears Scootaloo crying outside in the middle of a vicious blizzard. Plucking the freezing filly from the snow, Rainbow hopes to provide some much-needed comfort for the otherwise tough young pegasus, but she uncovers a disturbing reality that she knows she cannot handle alone.

Knowing only one pony that could really help her out, Rainbow enlists Twilight’s help, determined to set things straight for Scootaloo. But what Rainbow doesn’t know is that in her efforts to provide a better life for the filly, her friendship with Twilight will develop into something more.
