Celestia would do almost anything to ensure the safety of her beloved younger sister, even if it meant giving in to the demands of a group of scoundrels and thieves.

Luna? Luna doesn't worry about her sister's safety. After all, nopony had dared to kidnap the Solar Princess for hundreds of years.

The only thing this latest group needed was a reminder why.

A quick short story that popped into my head while doing research for other works. Fair warning, I'm my own editor so if anything slipped through the cracks, that's why. Enjoy!

On the fourth day of the fourth month of every year, Equestria pays homage to its fallen heroes. As daylight sets on this solemn ceremony, the immortal sun bows before the soldiers who died for her, and whispers an ancient question for which there is no answer.

Twilight Sparkle is thrilled when her groundbreaking paper on friendship and magic is finally published. Surely this will revolutionize the way magic is practiced all over Equestria! But things don't always go the way one expects...

The Cutie Mark Crusaders have dealt with all kinds of ponies having trouble finding their true calling in life, but none can compare to the special request they receive from Princess Twilight Sparkle herself, or the shock they receive on discovering who it is: Fizzlepop Berrytwist, possibly the most hated and feared pony in generations. Can a pony who's spent most of her life rejecting her true calling possibly find it now? Can the Cutie Mark Crusaders help a pony who almost everypony else in Equestria has rejected?

A more realistic take on the opening events of the MLP movie, where the entire cast is NOT hit by plot mandated incompetence. It is, as expected, significantly shorter.
