Rainbow Dash doesn't have anypony to spend her Hearth's Warming with—she hasn't for many years. All of her friends are enjoying it and she's had enough. She finds her way to Sweet Apple Acres and asks Applejack if she can spend the evening with her family.

However, fate decides she's in for a little more than that when an alien crashes into the farm and gives her a strange ring. Now, Applejack is thrust into a war she never expected, part of the intergalactic police force, the Green Lanterns. The enemy? A merciless group of warriors called the Yellow Lanterns, whose brutality is unmatched by any in the universe. Faced with a savagery that she has never encountered before, Applejack must step up and become the iron willed warrior the Green Lanterns, and the universe, need her to be.

Luna, fearing the worst, is determined to rescue Applejack from corruption, further irritating the farm pony. Will Applejack accept her destiny, or is destiny what you make of it?

Without a clue to her whereabouts, faced with rumours of a dragon stalking the town and troubled by a mysterious work of magic, Rarity's friends face up to the possibility that they may never see her again.

Twilight finds a filly Earth Pony hidden in her basement, reading magic tomes and eating her sandwiches. The little one claims her special talent is related to magic and that pony society had no place for one such as her.

Twilight is awestruck by the claim. Is pony society not welcoming of the differences?
