It's the wedding of Princess Cadence and Shining Armor!
Sometime into it, Applejack plays a little too rough with Rainbowdash and ends up taking a tumble right into a fountain. She won't let that ruin her night though, electing to turn to some hard cider to warm her right up as she waits to dry off.
Of all ponies to keep her company as she drinks, it turns out to be Rarity. The two enjoy one another's company, until the conversation turns to Applejack's own romantic infatuations. What ensues is a discussion probably best left for when they're both sober again.

What happens to ponies when they die? Do they go to a good place? A bad one? Somewhere in between? Twilight hasn't been sure, but now that she's here... Well, she frankly still isn't sure.

Written for the Quills and Sofas "Coffee Shop AU" speedwriting contest. Published at the behest of Zontan. The author bears no ill will to any of the mentioned franchises and asserts they were merely the easiest ones to make horse puns out of.

Twilight has done everything in her power to show how much she loves me. It would have been easier if I felt the same way.

How does one go about breaking up with a dear friend, especially when it's so obvious how head-over-heels in love she is? I'm sure I could have done it, if I'd had enough time to work out how.

But then she saved my life.

On the eve of Twilight's wedding, trouble is brewing. Fluttershy mourns the love she lost and contemplates the bitter dregs of hate. Two friends loved the same stallion and he chose one. As mysterious murders rock the city of Canterlot and an ancient evil returns to battles long abandoned, Twilight and Fluttershy will finally have that peculiar heart to heart that only rivals in love can have.

Unrequited passion is a dangerous force. In normal circumstances, a controllable one. When two mares who loved the same pony are left alone in the dark? Perhaps a lethal one.

My name is Midnight Aria, and I was never supposed to be here.

I joined the Rangers for adventure. I wanted to drive timberwolves away from frontier villages and soar over uncharted forests. I wanted to rescue little lost foals in snowdrifts and be a hero. I didn't want to be a guard or a soldier.

And now I'm chest deep in a war and I know for absolute certain that we are all going to die.

After a long time--she would be more precise but Twilight has lost track of time--she emerges from the dark of the library. Her candles are burnt down to nubs. There is no food left in her pantry and furthermore, no coffee. So she goes to seek both.

And finds the town changed. Or is it Twilight who has changed?

Success is often a bitter thing. When one has everything, then what worlds are left to conquer, after all? Rarity has expanded her business into every province of the Principality and is known in every city. She has everything that a much younger Rarity dreamed of, and yet absolutely nothing satisfies.

We must imagine Rarity happy, no matter how impossible it seems.

Rainbow has a crush, and Rarity seems to be the only one who wasn't informed. As she searches for the identity of Rainbow Dash's new love interest, Rarity questions whether or not her conclusions are based on reality... or on what she wishes were true.

The great evils of the world have clashed with the champions of all that was good and in true dialectical fashion, exhausted each other. The world Rainbow Dash and her wife Applejack live in now is the World After, one full of uncertainties and difficult questions.

Rainbow Dash doesn't care about any of that. She has a mission, and she intends to finish it, come hell or high water...

Or her spouse.

Rarity's search for the captured Rainbow Dash has brought her to the ancient grave-city of Jannah. With a weary but willing heart, she must find a way through the city's many perils to reach the mare she loves. But Jannah is abandoned for a reason. Nameless horrors stalk it's streets at night, and the city itself is infested by the Noise, a chaotic siren call that lures ponies to their death on the cobblestones. A mad Zebra shaman named D'Jalin and his mercenary band try to unlock the power of a strange artifact at the city's center, and Rainbow may be their key to bringing it to life. Celestia will not risk letting free the Evil which does not sleep, and her friends are far behind. Rarity has only her gun and her own fierce determination now, in the whitewashed tombs of Jannah.
