The Equestrian Survivors, a faction that arose to the galactic stage after a magic-aided nuclear holocaust consumed Equestria and the entire world, found the universe to be colder than it appeared. Tempest Shadow, made the Alicorn of Survival after the destruction of Equestria, ultimately made the decision to become a protectorate under the Zenak Assemblers, a race of robots. Though the resulting technological advances did much to aid Equestria's revival and to strengthen the nation, the Zenak implemented a plan to integrate the Survivors, to put them under their direct rule. Tempest, becoming aware of their plan, led her ponies in revolt against the machines.

Now here they are, at the end of the war, and must pay the price for their decisions...

After a long time away, and a power shift back home, Sunset Shimmer returns to Equestria to visit her old mentor at Silver Shoals where they discuss some unfinished business over a pots of tea and games of chess.

Equestria has suffered through it's first war in over a thousand years. The ponies overcame Chrysalis and her changeling swarm, but only through a desperate alliance with communist Stalliongrad. Now, with a fragile peace under looming threats, the ponies of Equestria call into question the leadership of the alicorn sisters. Celestia has a difficult decision before her. What will she do?

Gilda only wanted the humble things in life. Cheap rent, copious bits, the respect of her peers, the occasional juicy field-mouse.

Being captured by the Equestrians and dragooned into the Territorials wasn't quite what she'd dreamed of, but at least the rent was free.

And the rats were nice and plump.

"My little ponies, it is with great relief that I can finally tell you: The Crystal Wars are over. With the end of hostilities, my daughter --your hero-- Sunset Shimmer, is coming home."

After twelve long years, Sunset Shimmer is coming home. To Canterlot. Through twelve years of hard, bloody campaigning, Sunset had finally ground the Crystal Empire, and by extension the tyrant, Sombra to dust under her hooves. And she's coming back to Canterlot, the place of her birth.

As for Princess Celestia, The Celestial Monarch. She has waited for her daughter to come back so that she may impart one final lesson. But Sunset Shimmer has a lesson of her own:

War. War never changes. But ponies do.

The year is 1019. 

And the World is on fire. 

The Final Showdown of the Griffonian Empire and the Republicans in the North is at claw. 

Meanwhile, the nation of Equestria has finally destroyed the Changeling threat once and for all.

However, it was only doable at the cost of their principles, morals, and their Princess’s sanity.

The heir to the Crystal Empire, Princess Flurry Heart has just turned fifteen years old. However, the world is crumbling down around the doomed landlocked Kingdom. Just a month prior, Flurry Heart was nearly abducted by her aunt, Princess Twilight Sparkle only stopped due to the timely intervention of her mother. But will it be enough to stop their defeat? 

And what about after? 

Will the new Solar Empress have them executed? Converted to another drone like Flurry’s Aunt? 

Only time will tell. 

This story is actually based on an Equestria at war playthrough I did a while back, so I am using its timeline to the best of my memory, if an event is impossible in the mod that occurs in the story, please tell me so I can fix it.

Strife has been building between Princess Celestia and Princess Luna for years, differences in opinion on ruling have finally caused them to part ways. Realizing that Princess Luna and Princess Celestia aren't perfect, and have both made questionable choices, even if they have all turned out alright, and seeing the argument that caused the final rift between the sisters have led Twilight to also succeed from Equestria.

Now Twilight must rally the ponies of Equestria under her banner, and hope to bring peace and harmony to a land that is beginning to shatter from the strain of a three-way civil war.
