Twilight spent long nights deducing formulas and studying the history of women's hosiery, trying in vain to find a competent rival for such a wonderful piece of clothing. But as she proceeded with her studies, she came to a terminal conclusion that striped socks were cuter than any of their counterparts by far.

But scientific method, besides theory, consisted of practice. Now the issue was finding an appropriate lab rat. A great and powerful lab rat, preferably.

Besides, Twilight was sure the said great and powerful lab rat would look cute in striped socks.

Through a mysterious incident, Sci-Twi and Sunset Shimmer are transported to the world of Pokémon. Unfortunately, while Sci-Twi arrives as a human, Sunset is transformed into a Pokémon.

Working together as a Trainer and her Pokémon, the two must journey through the realm of Kanto in an attempt to find their way home and, in the process, learn as much as they can about this strange new world.

This story is a sequel to Can I be a friend of the moon?

Since Trixie went to the moon thanks to a shooting star request, she has been keeping company to Nightmare Moon. But when a lavender-colored female alicorn appears, the two have two different types of reactions: Twilight Sparkle's confused wondering why a filly is on the moon with a villain and Trixie's nervous wanting to find an excuse.

When Trixie's father tells the story of Nightmare Moon, Trixie feels pity and sorrow, and she wants to find a way to go to the moon, so that the mare on the moon has a company.

Starlight has found somewhere quiet to fly her new kite and ends up giving a lesson to a great and powerful admirer.

Working at the friendship school as student counselor has kept Starlight away from spending time with Trixie. When she finally gets the chance to pay Trixie a visit, Starlight notices that she is acting weirder than usual. In order to save their relationship, Starlight comes up with a plan to find out what is going on with Trixie.
