This story shares continuity with Sunset's Recovery Arc and the Burritoverse, but no prior knowledge of either is required.

Sunset reflects on a rather dark time in her life after she finds her old leather jacket cleaning out her closet.

Written for Sunset's birthday, or more specifically, today, the day Equestria Girls first came out five years ago.

Sunset Shimmer is feeling especially bad about herself after a rough day in detention, and just when it seems like things can't get any worse, Fluttershy discovers her at her lowest and learns something about her that she'd been trying to keep secret from her friends. The worst part though? She's being so nice about it. It's far more than she feels she deserves.
Fortunately, Fluttershy's not about to let her turn down the help she needs.

Set between the first Equestria Girls movie and Rainbow Rocks. Part of a series of fics I've been working on about Sunset's early days learning how friendship works, which starts with my previous story Asking a Favor. Can absolutely be read as a standalone though.

This one deals with some slightly heavy subject matter. Nothing to warrant a rating higher than E though.

Unable to sleep lately, Sunset is advised by her friends to go see the school counselor. Reluctant at first, Sunset gives in, and soon realizes a lot of things about herself, her friends, and her past.

The nightmares were becoming frequent recently, but Sunset Shimmer had never faltered, however bad it could get.

Last night was the last straw.

With a bicycle, a map, a music player, a purse, a set of clothes and a conviction, she runs off into the night.

The night Sunset Shimmer got into a fight with Princess Celestia was the last night she would see her ever her again. What was supposed to be a final journey through the portal to the human world becomes a situation of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

After the Fall Formal, everything was supposed to go back to normal, even turn out better. Sunset was going to have friends and they were going to teach her the ways of friendship. At least, that's what Twilight said would happen. Instead, Sunset is seen as a pariah by everyone including those who said they would be her friends. All except Fluttershy, who now has to save Sunset from ending up in a worse place than ever. But can she do it?
