Everyone seems to assume Applejack is a bigot, someone who is both homo and trans phobic. But what if the tables were turned? What if "she" was the one who had to deal with being transgender?

(I wrote this both to counteract the common AJ is a bigot plot, and because I felt the honesty element, would deal with this in an interesting manner)

Applejack may represent honesty, but she's been covering the truth for years, lying to her friends, lying to everyone, letting them think that she's okay.

Rarity, being the element of generosity, is a pony one would expect to except and support every decision her friends make. One day there is a shocking a revelation among all of her friends that puts that to the test however. It is then, after agreeing to meet with Twilight to discuss the matter, that she comes to question what it really is that defines her, and realises what she must sacrifice for her friend's happiness.

Starlight Glimmer has gone back in time. Each time Twilight tries to stop Starlight, she fails and is flung back through the portal and into a broken, twisted Equestria, ravaged by wars or monsters, each version worse than the one before, barreling toward the destruction of the world. Until she lands in a version of Equestria that ... isn't worse. It seems unchanged, happy, normal. The only real difference she can find on the cutie map is that her castle isn't there ...

Set in a war between the Solar Empire and Lunar Republic.

Twilight, Rainbow, and Rarity have to live with their choice on siding with the Solar Empire. Are their decisions good for them? How do they know for sure? How does it effect the lives around them?

Fluttershy, Pinkie, and Applejack find peace in the Lunar Republic. They are still concerned about their families and hope they are doing their best. Will conflict stir when Discord threatens to finish them off for good? Is Luna starting to wonder if she did the right thing starting this Republic?

And what of the background ponies? How are their lives changed because of the side they chose?

It all leads down to the start of The War.

Applejack is frustrated. After Canterlot, she can't hardly get into the city anymore. With all of the added security, she isn't sure how much longer she can keep her secret. As if that wasn't bad enough, she needs to see Princess Celestia about saving her failing crops. Suddenly frustrated doesn't seem accurate anymore...
