Dearest Spike,
You just couldn't stay out of trouble today, could you? Not that it's entirely your fault--there is another pony to pin some blame on here. However, you had still undertaken some actions far beyond your scope and capability, so let's tackle this one at a time.
First off, I understood that Twilight did need some rest and relaxation, but what you did to ensure that peace and quiet was more than a little extreme. I know this because that mare can sleep through just about anything when she's that sleep-deprived. So long as you kept the windows closed and the door locked, hardly anything would wake her up short of a bucket of ice water.
That's a bit dangerous, come to think of it. Once, when she was still here, she'd stayed up late doing some rigorous studying, then fell into one of her deep sleeps. A kitchen fire broke out about three hours later, but despite all the clamor of the guards, she had only barely roused herself to the smell of smoke and my voice calling her name in a panic.
In other words, nothing short of a loud disaster scenario could bring her back from slumberland. I think after today's events--or rather, you should have known this from the many, many times she had exhibited such exhaustion before now--this is sufficiently hammered into your head that when she sleeps, it's almost the sort of sleep one needs true love's kiss to break. Almost.
As for your other actions regarding her schedule and settling debates in her name, no, you were not, in any way, prepared to handle that. There's a reason she is the Princess of Friendship, and she knows how to word things in such a way that normally won't anger many ponies all at once. This isn't to say she's always got good ideas, but that doesn't mean you should substitute your own. As well as you may mean, putting good words in another pony's mouth is still as bad as placing the blame on another should it fail.
Beyond this, your greed in taking over a few of her relaxation appointments is showing you're relapsing once more, and although I'm certain we've talked about this before, I'll say it again: exercise restraint. Exercise restraint. Exercise. Restraint.
This ordeal isn't your whole fault, however. I'd spoken with Cadance earlier on her incredible control over the Crystal Empire and how not once she had any real incidents to speak of since the Equestria games. I had thought her management skills were on par with Twilight then, but after she'd put the big sleep on the summit planner, I had hoped she would at least pick up on some of the slack for Twilight as she was resting.
Except she didn't. At all. I couldn't believe it when she told me she had nothing to do because Twilight had taken it upon herself to handle almost everything, and then she just put the over exhausted mare to sleep and expected everything to run okay without her for a while. At a unity summit where an argument sprouts every fifteen seconds, and somepony needs to talk to the Friendship Princess about it.
At least Luna and I were doing our part to try and stem the tide for some of the delegates, alongside watching over the feast preparations; I'll be damned if that's not up to proper standards. Even so, there's only so much we can juggle all at once, and I made quite sure after today that Cadance needs to contribute a little more than plugging up a water main and presenting a gem statue so fragile a sneeze breaks it down immediately. Was it so hard to find a glue bottle? Really?
Anyway, Spike, you learned about how easy it is for power to corrupt, and Cadance learned not to be sleeping on her job when she puts another to sleep. I'm still happy everything managed to work out in the end, but this should have gone so much smoother with FOUR princesses and an assistant here.
Oh well. There's always next year.
Love,
Princess Celestia
HEY! Other me! Yes you, the one on the chandelier!
Don't look at me with those innocent eyes. You've been swaying the sun back and forth on a pendulum for the past ten minutes, and it's bugging me! So cut it out!
Oh no, there go the tears. Look, I promised I'd keep you here if you didn't cause trouble, and to your credit, this is the worst thing you've done in the past week. Still, you need to scale it down a few pegs. You're a princess, not a party mare.

Magnets. The statue was obviously held together by magnets.
Enter Pinkie Pie, who shows the other Celestia how to party hard, which forces the real Celestia to send the clone back to the mirror pool. Speaking of which, I wonder how the other Luna is doing?
6122143 How does that work?
so in the she kept one of her clones. I wonder how many luna has?

Oh, before I forget, I'm not quite done with this episode yet. A second letter is in the works to address another matter regarding a certain pony from Ponyville that didn't attend the summit.
That's all I can say without bursting into giggle fits over their actions and spoiling the fun, and I do hope you'll look forward to it.
You know, the one thing that bothered me the MOST about this episode is that Cadance was just wandering around doing absolutely freaking NOTHING. She KNEW Spike was about to royally screw everything up, and instead of saying "Okay, look...I run the Crystal Empire, I'm not doing anything important, I can deal with this," she just ran her little pink butt around letting the whole thing go to hell.
When Celestia gets her hooves onto the Mirror Pool...
6122314 The cover image for that video makes celestia look like some sort of beluga whale.
Now I can't get the idea out of my head.
6122290
Agreed. Cadance was running the Empire so well that she needed a vacation to find something to do, hence why I wondered why she did next to nothing beyond present a gem statue and plug up a water main.
Arguably speaking, I also wondered where Tia and Luna were for basically the entire episode and why they did diddly squat to help with the Rube-Goldberg carnage. Buuut I figured they were busy doing SOMETHING to help with the preparations or prevent them from becoming more of a disaster. Gods know those two have had their share of damage control.
I also took issue with the fact that Twilight, the veritable God of Organization, still couldn't get the entire event set up within the days prior by the time the delegates arrived. This coming from the mare that turned Winter Wrap Up from a disaster to a success literally on the same day.
Really makes me wonder if those new writers actually saw the previous Spike episodes to understand exactly what he had already learned before writing this... thing.
6122451 Well, to be fair, when you're organizing a big event, things don't always go exactly according to plan because Other People.
But yeah...this was a badly-written Spike episode that ignored every lesson he's ever learned ever.
6122290 Exactly. Spike is a child, and Cadance lumped way too much responsibility on him. It disturbs me that the writers say Spike is a kid, they write him as a very precocious kid, and then adults around him dump adult responsibilities on him.
I'm convinced that the extent of all alicorns' delegation skills boil down to "Have Twilight do it." Including Twilight. No wonder she was exhausted.
6122143
I was going to say Van der Waals forces.
"Was it so hard to find a glue bottle? Really?"
Well, Celestia, I hope glue is made from something entirely different in Equestria than what it's made from here. Because those are some serious pony deaths.

Skywriter proposed an interesting theory that Cadance as viewing Spike as her sort-of nascent Faithful Student, so she was perhaps giving him enough credit to manage the responscibility for himself. I kind of like that idea.
(And personally, aside from the rather contrived problem areas, I reckon he did an otherwise pretty good job, especially when he is, as you say, either a child or just barely out of childhood and dealing with an adult job. (I doubt Dash would have ended up doing much different and probably not as well...!) Apart from the slight Going Mad with Power (after he'd done all his proper work) and the highly unlikely series of events that made the ponies form the mob (because up until then, aside from the first two idiots, we were shown no indication that Spike's dealng with that big long queue of ponies was other than satisifactory.)
6122885 I saw Skywriter's idea, and like any right-thinking human being, I of course agree with him and defer to his knowledge of Candybutt. I would definitely love to see more Spike and Cadance interaction, it makes a lot of sense. Spike's upbringing was certainly unusual, and pre-ponyville may not have been entirely healthy. I think part of the reason he seems so mature is he's used to taking care of himself and Twilight, in many ways he's more her caretaker than the other way around. Cadance is a champion ex-babysitter, it makes sense she's the one princess who's actually good with children. I like to think she's the reason everyone in the Crystal Empire thinks of Spike as the primary guy who stopped Sombra, because she knows Twilight, the Mane 6, and herself don't need another laurel, but Spike could use one. Maybe she's preparing the way so, when Spike is 500 and the size of a building, there's a place full of ponies who still aren't afraid of him, with all the crystals he can eat.
And yeah, all of the Mane 6 except Applejack and maybe Rarity would probably not have done a better job, imagine if the CMC (who are technically older than Spike) did it instead? Would Canterlot still be attached to the mountain?
6122924
Hah! Great minds think alike! I had (briefly) considered what the CMC might have done in spike's stead, but had to refrain because there are somethings to terrible for even a Lich to contemplate...!
6122671 One can only assume so, since we just saw Matilda using a glue stick in Ep100. Either that, or that donkey is a little more messed-up than she lets on.
I've always though Spike to be a bit too...male...to be a Princess.
Maybe Cadence did use glue, but it wasn't waterproof.
6122671 Its probably synthetic, like most glues we use today. Animal glue is really only still used in things like musical instruments because of tradition and the way it vibrates. Of course, Equestria seems to be about equivalent to the late 1800s in technology, but we could probably pass it off as certain things being simpler with magic.
6122671
You know, glue in Equestria is their
Soilent Greenway of having older folks contribute to the community.6123562
That's really no problem, methinks.

6122451 Nah they just needed a way to make Spike look like an idiot again. Same as every other Spikeasode.
If only Spike had just put the hay in the apple, and ate the candle.
Anyone else think it was weird that Cadance used a recolored version of Sombra's signature spell? Am I reading too much into that?
6125672 I think it's a manifestation of her connection to the crystal heart. And the coloration is probably the result of her emotions, meaning because she wasn't feeling strongly about anything, it appeared prismatic. Sombra's whole mind was focused on revenge, animosity, and destruction, Red is the color of that on the emotional color spectrum (See Red Lantern Corps)
Hope this helps your understanding and now I need to think of why I know all this and why it makes perfect sense.
Other Celestia is a party mare?
*Thinks for a minute before a lightbulb goes off and then shatters as i realize the horrible truth.*
Oh Faust! RUN FOR THE HILLS! THAT CLONE OF CELESITA'S HAS PINKIE PIE'S PERSONAILTY!
6122143
And since magnets work by magic, and dragon breath dissolves magic...
It all makes sense!
IDGAF that Spike's always considered a child (even though I will call Spike a teen, not just a child--he's done too much shit to just be a child), either put him in situations where he is a child amonst children, make him older both physically and mentally, or write him off the show because none of you M/Fs even have a damned clue what to do with him. And the more I see it, it just seems more that this is a show for Ponies, and he is a Dragon--where in Equestria is a dragon ever gonna be welcome???
6123562
I know, right? bruc- I mean spike isn't a girl
