This story is a sequel to When The Mare Comes Around

Rae Jay, the merged personality of Rachel Shelton and Applejack Apple, finally catches a break. After surviving all the attempts on Rachel's life, she's on her way to reunite with her friends in New York City, this time with governmental support. She's going to get a little shut-eye, reconnect with her friends, then take on Discord and bring Harmony to Earth.

Except, it can't ever go smooth.

One phone call later, and Rae Jay is up to another batch of thrilling heroics, deep in an enemy compound, facing down a small army of trigger-happy, pony-hating bigots, all to save her friends. With only the Element around her neck and a fangirl CIA agent at her back, Rae Jay's odds aren't looking too good. And that's just a warm-up before taking on a mad god of chaos, and who knows what tricks he has up his scaly sleeve.

Pinkie Pie's friend, Snuggles, is only the coolest pony ever!

He gives the best hugs, and he's sweet, and gives the best hugs, and he's friendly, and gives the best hugs, and he really is such a great stallion! Also, did Pinkie mention the hugs?

Pinkie's friends quickly figure out she appreciates Snuggles for more than just his hugs. The Party Pony, Pinkie, has a crush. Unfortunately, Pinkie has never had a crush before. Does her crush like her back? What do you do with a crush? Why is it called a crush when it feels more like a squish?

Maybe she needs some help from her friends. Just in case. After all, nopony's ever gotten hurt with a crush? Right? ...Right?

Rainbow Dash is really enjoying being an honorary big sister to Scootaloo. They hang out, she praises Rainbow's sweet moves- it's really the perfect relationship. Until Rainbow has to do boring grown-up stuff and ask to meet Scootaloo's parents. No big deal. Just in case something happens, Rainbow knows who to go to.

Except... Scootaloo keeps dodging the question. And nopony in town has a clue where she lives either.

Rainbow is getting worried while Scootaloo is getting more and more desperate to avoid an answer. Because what if that answer isn't cool enough for Rainbow Dash?

Wow, Fluttershy sure looks rough. Like, really rough. She says that she's just been up late since she joined a band. At least, that's what she's told her friends. Twilight suspects otherwise. After all, Fluttershy's much too gentle and shy a pony to have joined a band. Clearly something else is up.

Everypony tells Twilight she's worrying over nothing. That is, until Fluttershy is seen in the company of strange ponies. And going around town in a cloak. And showing up at strange places!

Fluttershy? Is everything okay?

Lemme tell ya about two years before. Before Harmony. Before I was the Element o' Honesty. Before a lot. Because behind every respectable mare is a story of how she made some bad decisions before she got to the right ones.

On a midnight train, one mare travels to Canterlot. She goes to see Princess Luna, presiding in her Night Court. With her, she carries determination and a book. The book has been passed from parent to foal, from generation to generation for a time longer than most ponies can even imagine.

She travels to Canterlot to give the book to Luna.

And neither pony will be the same after.

Rachel was just driving home late after a crap day of work when the other car hit her.

When she woke, she was two feet under. When she dug herself out, she was in Applejack's body.

As if that wasn't enough, she's been called to the Big Apple to help the other Elements of Harmony deal with what's been causing people the world over to wake as ponies. So, Rachel's gotta get from Upstate New York to New York City. Not a big deal. Except whoever buried her in that shallow grave off Highway 5 has found out she woke as a pony, and they're looking to put her back in the dirt.

Now, Rachel is running. Running to the city on hoof. Running from her mysterious pursuer. Running for her and Applejack's lives.

Lyra works hard and often. Even her roommate Bon Bon knows this and knows to enjoy the time she gets with her odd friend. So when Lyra gets her first weekend off in a very long time, she looks forward to some much needed personal relaxation.

Too bad her co-workers, Ditzy Doo and Time Turner, show up with a little bad news.

"Twi, you gotta get me out of here. These human guys think I’m nuts! Nopony here has even heard of Equestria! Not to mention a pegasus or unicorn outside a book! I tried finding the other girls, but I couldn’t before I got locked up. We gotta find ‘em Twi. If we’re here, it can’t be good news back home.”

Aurora Amaryllis dreamed of ponies and Equestria her whole life. She'd long thought them just flights of fancy and products of a creative youth. Then, she met Rainbow Dash. Then, her hair started changing color. Then, she started meeting other strangers, all who claimed to know her and were her closest friends.

Aurora keeps saying it's all a dream, but soon it becomes all too real. Real enough that Equestria is in danger from a foe that threatens all of the lands. Real enough that she and these new strangers are the only ones who can stop it. Real enough that Aurora must meet a destiny not even meant for her.

Will Aurora help the Elements of Harmony, save Equestria from an unstoppable menace, and live to tell the tale? Or is it all just a dream?
