"Perhaps the story now goes beyond the book." - Cornelia Funke, Inkheart

Lemme tell ya about two years before. Before Harmony. Before I was the Element o' Honesty. Before a lot. Because behind every respectable mare is a story of how she made some bad decisions before she got to the right ones.

Heh. AJ and her bars.

Well she wasn't so good in that bar fight in Mare just because of dance magic. :ajsmug:

In all seriousness I don't get that reference.

ANYWHO

This was an interesting look at a younger, crazier. It's hard to see AJ in this light, given that at the time of the show she's actually pretty grounded, but somehow this works.

Then I did my job. Thank you.

Eh, wasn't my favorite. I wish you'd given Applejack some reason that she'd orchestrate bar fights. As it stands, it seemed hugely arbitrary, and we didn't even get why she liked to fight strangers, or what compelled her to do it.

okay then, first they jacked up the bar, then they dashed.:ajbemused:

You know, I've always wondered why there aren't that many Applejack and Rainbow Dash friendshipping stories... I'm glad I stumbled on this one. While their reasons for fighting, and stopping fighting, seemed a little vague, I'm happy to put it down as "they were kids, and then they grew up." And I have to admit, I love the idea of AJ and Dash in a barfight. AJ's sucker punch was perfect.

Great story! I hope I see more AJ and Dash from you!

Kids don't need reasons to get in trouble, I'm sure we all know that, but it would have been a little better as a story if they'd had more reason than "dunno". Still, it was sweet and they learned a lesson, the two of them, so it was a good night all round. Tending the farm may not be as exciting as trips to bars but its still important.

excellent read, no holes to pick and that bar scene was well put together: Dash's setup as well as AJ's backup. Bit tough going straight for the arrows, those can take an eye out. Nice touch with Dash ordering for them, but that means she's the adult, and i just can't buy that, somehow :rainbowlaugh:

How nice! I love a good story that illustrates imperfections and the crazy, maybe-not-too-smart things kids do and those kids' growth. A perfect, pithy sketch.

I really loved this.
Something about AJ and RD doing friend stuff always makes me smile.

Very impressive and well done. I twigged early what the plan was but that only enhanced the enjoyment of watching it unfold. Well done.

I could see RD and AJ doing this. Both seem to have a lot of pent-up aggression and Dash loves to fight. Good story.

I really like this story.
It's simpler and shows friendship before the show.
