There was a time where ponies paid no heed to me, and I was content with that.

There was a time where all I had to comfort me were my books, and I was content with that, too.

Until I wanted more. Until I wanted someone to pull me from my loneliness, but none of the Crystal ponies would understand my social awkwardness. I'd be shunned and cast aside. So I read.

I read, searching for a friend...

But I found only a monster.

The Great and Powerful Trixie has been through every trench life has dug, although not to say she didn't deserve them all.

Something sinister lies inside the Everfree Forest; something that even Nightmare Moon herself was terrified of while she walked the same earth.

And now, that entity is calling out, calling out to those with wishes seemingly too large to fulfill.

But none of them ever return.

In a land filled with vile hatred, lies, deceit, sabotage and famine; three races of ponies are at war with themselves and each other. Food is scarce and the sinister winter sets itself in even deeper as the three races slowly die off.

Something must be done, but what?

And by who?

With the mysterious introduction of an even more mysterious set of ponies, can the three races be brought together long enough to let the storm die down, or will they kill each other off and let the stragglers starve to death?

(Prequel to my series 'The Elements of Harmony') Luna is gone, Celestia is a wreck, and Equestria is falling into a darkness that was supposed to be stopped with Nightmare Moon's banishment. How will Celestia cope with the only pony who has survived the years with her being banished? Will our beloved Princess of the Sun ever recover from her loss, and can a certain five star general help her to do that?
