A nice little story, though I didn't feel there was much of a payoff at the end. Imo, would've been hotter if Pumpkin rode her brother to completion and went back to her room with a belly full of seed to keep her warm.

Can confirm. Have worked in hospo for the last decade at least.

Ovens and stoves on all day generate a metric fuckton of heat that doesn't easily dissipate.

Getting blasted in the face with heat when opening an oven door is about as pleasant as you would think.

There's no reason why a bakery would be unnaturally cold at night, especially when the bakers get up pre-dawn to turn them on to get up to heat.

I believe that person is addressing the implication that ovens produce heat by somehow sucking it out of the rest of the building. That is of course ridiculous.

Unless Sugarcube Corner has been remodeled / expanded since P&P were infants, it has only a large home kitchen with one or two consumer-class stovetop ovens. I have doubts that this would even heat up their whole kitchen, let alone keep the entire house warm overnight while said kitchen wasn't running.
