Mudbriar is, I suppose, for people who really like Sheldon from Big Bang theory. I am not one of those people. (Also, my sense of order is offended by the implied equivalence of his passion for sticks and Maud's passion for rocks. Geology is an actual topic of study. Sticks - detached and dead bits of woody plants - not so much. A fascination with wood in all its variety would be better, but then I suppose there would be far too many obvious bad jokes.)

haha, very nice! i admit i was disappointed myself at Maud for resorting to plain rock puns for her entire routine, when the standup she performed in "Rock Solid Friendship" was a lot more subtle, but i am loving the recontextualization that this line brings! i can totally see Maud doing an entire routine of puns to die on stage on purpose, in order to set up a larger metajoke, itself a pun. and Pinkie enthusiastically supporting her without quite understanding what she was going for really is a great illustration of their relationship. thank you so much for the story!
