I hope Dinky has no regrets, hate for the cycle to be repeated. This story had so much great imagery! Definitely not a pairing I've seen explored before but it shows that the bonds of friendship can come from anywhere and I'm glad they had each other.

Like Present, the twist in the middle/latter-third made me seriously question the structure of this, but wow did you make it work. There's a huge conceit in Derpy having the agency that she does, being actually dead but without it you have no story... And what a story!
This story hit me real hard. What a story.
It took me a little while to work out what was going on, but it made sense when everything fell into place.
