This story is perhaps the best tale of Smolder getting herself into diapers. It goes through the emotional roller-coaster that it is to 'go through with it'. It also puts her own society, culture, and pride into question as she knows the consequences that would likely come if any dragon ever knew. Heck, if any creature knew.
Silver Stream being the choice care giver made a lot of sense. Silver Stream has a very positive and outgoing personality. She's very caring and it makes sense she'd want to help out Smolder as, well, Silver Stream loves learning. So this would be a fun adventure along with a great chance to build her friendship with Smolder.
You touched a lot on real life struggles of being an AF / DL. You do well at this and I'm glad you share the stories that you do. They are needed to help those who have yet to find their peace with being who they are.
I personally wish I had discovered such content far sooner in my life. I lived in self-loathing while trying to use 'will power' to stop being who I am. All this caused was a lot of stress with no positive result. I accept myself now but truly am glad that we can write stories to help show that it's not a social 'death sentence' if you have the interest. Sure it is taboo by society BUT it is definitely a lot safer than other escapes our society seems okay with. Most notably drugs and alcohol. I'd rather be caught napping in a wet diaper than put in jail for having gotten so drunk that I ruined someone's life beyond my own.
Our world is odd and it's norms are odder. So thanks for helping others to see that being 'little' can work if you trust in friends and yourself.

This reminds me one time I was listening to a podcast run by ABDL's and they have a psychologist on that specialized in ABDL stuff. One of the things that she said was that she wished that everyone could be calmed down with diapers. Then they would not have problems like people getting hooked on anti anxiety med's and such.

Out of all the kinks and fetishes on the Internet, diapers are harmless, and sometimes kind of cute (except for cases where they take the infantilism/AB stuff to the point of eating carrot mush and deliberately shitting themselves).
