Hmm, a Thestral-shaped piƱata, I always wanted one of those. Do you think if they hit him hard enough that candy will fall out?
Should probably just toss him overboard still tied up and be done with him. I don't like sounding heartless, but from Chrysalis' description of what happened the last time someone connected to the changelings tried to talk to the princesses, Moonlight's going to be nothing but a liability. Especially on the off chance he actually manages to escape and reports his fanatically racist, conspiracy driven, version of things to Luna.

Nah, he'll puke out whole mangoes instead of candy
8708543
I agree with that completely. He'll be nothing but trouble to the entire mission.
Mmmmm, a thestralata! Now gimme a stick.
That was a triple breakfast, methinks.
Aaaaawkward...
8708587 Ah I forgot that is their main food source, mangos. What about mango-flavored candies?
Hmm, I wonder if thestrals faced the same kind of racism. Things probably got better after Luna returned and Changelings became the new threat. But I kind of like the idea of Moonlight seeing tye light... as it were. Ignorance breeds fear, and fear breeds misunderstandings. If Moonlight truly seeks to be enlightened he could become a true asset, both to the group but also his princess.
Is it possible that Folami may be harboring a crush on Ari that is making her act in such a way? Also I think it is safe to say that Ari is a bit of a nympho haha And damn is Moonlit Echo one stupidly stubborn thestral. I agree with what Kamunari is speculating about said thestral.
Sad that there is no more chapters to read However I am looking forward to reading future chapters, brilliant story BTW
ok i really found this chapter interesting it looks like Moonlit turned down the deal so now he needs to be delete with sucks to be him.

Much like a pinata, you'd have to stuff candy in him first.
Finally finished this awesome story. Took me the better part of two days, but it was worth it. I'm looking forward to the Princess arc you were talking about. Hopefully, it'll clear up some of the misconceptions Ari has about the princesses and what Faust's true reason for 'helping' Equestria is since I highly he just did it out of the goodness of his heart. In fact, I actually doubt a lot of what he told Ari, or at the very least he only gave Ari a piece of the truth, especially concerning the bad weather. After all, how could the bad weather be the princesses' fault; they've been raising the sun and moon without any issues for a thousand years? If I had to guess, I'd say Faust is just using the bad weather and blaming it on the princesses as an excuse for something else.
And as for the princesses raisin the sun and moon in the first place, I'm leaning towards the planet getting too close and far from the sun as seasons changed naturally, leading to unbearably hot summers and frigid winters, perhaps because of Discord when he through Equestria into a chaos a thousand years before.

Did you actually take in what you read or did you just skim/speedread the chapters?
You technically just answered your own question about how they would be at fault (though fault would also fall to Discord and/or the original unicorn council that moved the sun and moon). They caused it over the course of a thousand years and through willfull ignorance. Most of the areas that are bad have been that way for a long time and getting worse to the point of no return. The 'god' didn't say everything would be fixed immediately just that it would stop them from destroying the rest of the world. While I agree things were probably omitted by said 'god' for the sake of his/her entertainment, everything shown in the chapters focusing on things around and from the princesses perspectives shows how poor their decisions are/were.
The good thing is that the main protagonist is giving them the benefit of the doubt and wants to attempt diplomacy first but isn't stupid enough not to be prepared otherwise and not jumping straight to the extreme polar opposite unlike almost every other story. The backup plan is quite possibly one of the best ones possible for the dealing with them. The only issue may lie in their reactions to Ari's herdmates.

I took it all in when I read it, yes, but unless the author straight up confirms what I said, it's all just assumptions until he does, so that's why I asked. As for the weather being the princesses fault, I'm still doubtful. From context clues scattered through out the story, it's said that the lands outside Equestria were beautiful and thriving before the bad weather, such as the Minotaur homeland. So, if a thousand years can go by without the lands outside Equestria being ravaged by bad weather, then I'm inclined to believe the weather isn't as connected to them as we're lead to believe. Also, it's hinted at that there's a reason the princesses move the sun and moon beyond just giving Equestria optimal growing seasons, so the chances of them stopping raising the sun and moon are dismal at best as the story progresses.
As for Ari being diplomatic, is he? I mean that legitimately. I thought he was going straight to kidnapping them.

That's fine. If someone has a problem with one of my reviews, then I'm happy to explain myself.
I went back to a few of the relevant chapters and it's implied that the weather was bad before Discord ruined everything, so I'll concede that to you. Something I think that's important to note, however, is that it's hinted at that there's a reason the princesses took over moving the sun and moon, something beyond just giving Equestria optimal growing seasons.

That's why I stated it wasn't just their fault, the issue most likely started long before them or during Discord's first rule. Luna at one point admitted she wasn't fully trained in everything she should know and learned the rest from Celestia so it's quite possible both aren't fully trained. So far Ari seems intent on finding out how much is due to ignorance, willfull or not before coming to any full conclusions. Ignorance is not innocence however especially when they would have had several chances to learn about the rest of the world. He is however getting frustrated with all the bs he has to deal with and almost each bit he comes across that somehow ties back to them is making them look more incompetent. Also you do realize that our weather irl is affected by events that occurred hundreds to thousands of years ago via chain reactions which is the same logic in regards to why the storms are more prevalent now.
The biggest issue I have is the specist mindset of most Equestrians. With most government's officials the mindset of the people can not be fully blamed on the rulers. In this case considering how the ponies almost religiously follow the princesses and that they personally (mostly Celestia) have ruled for over a thousand years they have little to no excuse. The story may try find a way for that but any reasoning given beyond incompetence combined with zealots hiding the truth would be a convoluted stretch at this point. And that still doesn't help their case.
At this point in the story almost any defense for the sisters seems like grasping at straws about as blindly as Moonlit Echo. Until we get something in their favor they have no legs to stand on with maybe one exception. Luna may have one by the simple fact that she wasn't in power or capable of affecting things for 99% of the time but that's a stretch when you remember why she wasn't there. We have no idea how she might have caused things to be different if at all considering how little her power was respected. That would once again put most of the blame on Celestia ....huh... even more so if the author uses some of the official canon sources outside of the show in this AU.
That is another thing we can't forget about.
All our posturing comes down to little beyond what we see in this story since it is an AU and the author can change things according to whatever logic they are using.

I can understand and sympathize with the majority of what you said, especially in regards to the Equestrians being speciests as there's no excuse for how they treat other species. For the princesses, however, my problem lies purely with the fact that it seems, at least to Ari, that they can do no right. It's moved on from Ari giving the benefit of the doubt to Ari immediately assuming the worst when it comes to the princesses, such as when he immediately assumed the princesses didn't give his ideas for increasing the population any thought or that the slavery in Zebrica was due to the princess not paying enough attention to the trade network. Not once do I hear him hold any of the other countries trading with Zebrica accountable. And when one of the equestrian mares seemed to blame the princesses for her being captured, it just seems unfair to hold them entirely accountable as whenever people go missing in hostile countries IRL, it's rare that the home country can get them home, and I imagine similar logic would apply here.
Throughout the entire story, Ari has only ever heard one side of the story concerning the princesses without ever considering that there might be more to it than what he's told. For instance, he most likely believe the princesses started moving the sun and moon just to give Equestria optimal growing seasons and hasn't considered any other reasons. Put simply, the few Equestrians he's dealt with have all been speciest or racist to varying degrees and he just assumes that is a reflection of the princesses, despite that not being true.
To sum up, Ari has started assuming the worst about the princesses without really giving them a chance or wondering why and that just grates on my nerves when I, as a reader, know that what Ari knows and believes isn't quite correct. As readers, we know that Celestia was severely overworked during Luna's absence and because of that, some things didn't get the attention they needed from Celestia, such as Zebrican trade or leaving the country and setting up committees to help didn't work nearly as much as it should have. Yet, Ari doesn't consider any of this and blames the princesses without hesitation.
As you already said, all this posturing doesn't mean much as the author will inevitably clear up the majority of it in coming chapters.
Man, talking to Echo is like talking to a Nazi, a K.K.K. member, a Westborough zealot, or a North Korean. All hate and not a lick of sense, compassion, remorse, or sympathy.
