Sounds interesting. Some kind of quantum lock effect? I guess written communication would be possible, although probably in drawings as pony written language doesn't seem to be intelligible (yet).
He could comunicate with pictures or act out scenes with the poniqins from caroussel Boutique...
He should understand that time seems to slow or stops near him, otherwise the items would be seen moving around on their own by him...

I sorta get what was going for here, but the writing was severely clunky, which made it very difficult to immerse one's self into the story.

The concept reminds me of something out of a sci-fi show (either one of the Star Treks or Stargate...probably both
); two sets of living beings sharing and occupying the same physical space and time, however they are out of phase with one another and incapable of physically interacting or even observing the other party.
For a hardcore I-wanna-go-to-Equestria fan this would have to be like the worst nightmare.
So close, yet so far.
