It's only there for some heavy bleeding in the chapter. Nopony dies or gets dismembered or anything. It's all healed afterwards.
The gore tag is there for a reason, Serenity. Only chapter one is effected by this tag, and you could skip chapter one and still get the a good portion of the story. Just with out Serenity's excess, and Mapper's total love for Serenity to meet her excess.
