This isn't quite Royal Duties level of messing with, but something tells me that Twilight and Thunderlane may have been enjoying messing with the humans' lives while the humans were just trying to get by.
Especially if they had unprotected sex repeatedly, too...
In short, I think the humans' got the worst deal here.

Recall not-Thunderlane complained about all the attention he was getting from mares. That's hardly the kind of thing somepony who would do what you suggest did. And Princess Twilight Sparkle is way too high profile, as she mentioned to Spike.
