Chapter 8: How to Love a Dragon

As the ground sizzled with burning embers, what was left of the patch of grass was nothing more…

Off to the side where the scorched earth, Fluttershy flew swiftly to catch Toothless in time before the enormous fireball came in contact toward its target. Lying exhausted on the floor, Fluttershy slightly bruised from the sudden impact of dirt and earth hitting her underbelly glanced at the little dragon in her hooves. Before she could slightly scorn Toothless for taking on a bigger dragon, the behemoth itself roared in anger as it was about to set off another round. As it was close to unleashing a ball of fire at the two below, a sudden sound along came into ear-shot as a sudden explosion hammering across the side of the beast all happening at once as the dragon screamed in pain as another fury projectile slammed across the other side of the dragon again.

As Fluttershy composed herself upright seeing this sudden change of event, the dragon, now wounded quickly flew into the sky and retreated back into the wilds of the Everfree forest where it belonged. Looking a bit puzzled Fluttershy trotted towards Twilight who was knocked out by the sudden impact of the bigger dragon’s fireball,

“Twilight are you ok? Are you hurt?”

“I'm fine, I was knocked out unconscious for a few minutes, but what about you and Toothless?”

Looking across as Toothless was back at the huge pile of fishes eating the rest of the fishes there.

“He's alright Twilight, but if you were knocked out unconscious, then who drove the Big Dragon away…?”

Just like magic, a sudden black silhouette of another dragon flew down without much hassle as its big yellow eyes locked onto the two ponies standing there watching them as it was steadily moving closer to the two,

“Stand back Fluttershy, this could be another dragon here to cause us more trouble”

As Twilight began to charge up her horn to ward off the other dragon as it was just a few feet from them,

“Wait Twilight don’t!!!”

Spreading her wings and stood right in front of Twilight,

“Fluttershy get out of the way, it’s going attack us, just like the other dragon!!!”

As Fluttershy continued to stand her ground, not moving an inch as the large obsidian dragon moved in closer just inches from the two,

“I know this dragon is Toothless’ mother; I’m sure of it, trust me”

Spinning around, face to face with the obsidian dragon looking deep into Fluttershy’s eyes, none of them moved from their spot as the dragon moved in close ready to lift its large paw at Fluttershy as it…

Began to hug her…

It was a miracle, even to Twilight, as the great obsidian dragon hugged Fluttershy in a moment of bliss, Fluttershy returned the hugging embrace towards the dragon as Toothless let out a happy growl as he rushed forward towards his mother. Both Toothless and his mother hugged each other and rolled around on the ground playing with one another, happily together once more,

“I'm so proud of you, Fluttershy”

“At that moment when I looked into her eyes, I knew…”

As both ponies stood there watching the two playing, the dawn of the early morning sun rose into view, shining over the four. As time moved on, the town of Ponyville returned back to normal with a bit of gossip as to the dragon being a hoax by a Pegasus in disguise, but only a few knew about the truth… Fluttershy continued on with caring for her animals within her cottage, Twilight tending to her duties as being the new Princess, Rainbow Dash bragging about being faster than the Wonderbolts, and Rarity, after her confrontation with the little obsidian dragon came out with a new line of obsidian-designed outfits. Though at times, Fluttershy remembers about the time she was brave enough to stand up to her fear of dragons and to show Kindness even to those that may seem scary at first, is far different than which they truly are.

Sorry if this took so long to finish, but I am done, though Im not sure if I am going to write more, but Life gets pretty busy for me but I will see if I can write up more stories in the future. Thanks for reading and being so patient with me.

Finally this came out. I had given up hope that you would finish.

despite being rather short i liked this story.
and with the positive out of the way this story has some rather glaring issues.
not sure if they where supposed to be like this but this whole story kinda reinforces the whole ponies being xenophopic thing.
i mean one single smaller sized dragon flying over ponyville and everyone freak out and call in the (useless) wonderbolts insted of you know asking what it want?
or you know, ignore it? as long as its not doing anything then why panic and act like you have never seen a dragon/ have only had bad run ins with dragons Before?
oh and for the last chapter... im not sure if i miss read anything but did it all the sudden go from 9 in the night to sun rise in a time span of what should have not been more than 1-2 hours?

Yeah, its a bit hard to gauge how long it takes to pile up a large stack of fishes into one area. It's like Fishing really, sometimes it only takes a few minutes to get a bite, other times it takes hours, but I get what your saying. I'll make sure to look at those factors in the next story.
