Dark types are viewed by most as evil. From the "disaster causing" Absol to the "evil" Spiritomb.
But there are the few who want to disprove this, and Gwen Lichtenberg is one of them. Always fascinated by Dark type Pokemon, Gwen has decided to go out and prove that not all dark types are bad. Although, having a Spiritomb as your main Pokemon doesn't help things.
And then there was the whole "Legendaries getting together and deciding to teleport a vast majority of the Pokemon, along with some humans" thing...

Hm... interesting concept, uses Pokemon species we haven't really seen much of yet, no immediately noticeable grammatical and/or spelling errors, and a fairly decent writing-style. The story could use a bit more background info regarding the main characters, but otherwise seems to be off to a compelling and very good start. Plus, I've been wanting to see how some interactions between Dragon-types and Equus-born Dragons (especially those three dorks) would go down.

Speaking of Dark Types, you know what species I just realized I haven't seen yet in any "New World, New Way" side-story? Drapion. That thing is awesome (partly because its unique Poison-Dark typing grants it strong resistances to the usual main weaknesses of Fairy and Psychic, and partly because it's pretty much a giant terrestrial eurypterid and I have an intense love for prehistoric critters) and it seems to be criminally under-used.
Anyways, do you have any plans for Gwen to have a Drapion as part of her team? Because if so, that would be awesome.

After thinking long and hard about your hint and using this image as a comparison, I have come to the conclusion that only the Gen6 Dark-types are missing from the cover image, which means that Gwen probably has an Inkay on her team (which makes sense given her theme of "misunderstood" Pokemon and the fact that Malamar is basically just one big H.P. Lovecraft reference). Then again, I'm also noticing that Krookodile isn't on the cover image either, though he might not count towards your hint since both his pre-evolutions are already on there but I'm stil gonna guess that Gwen also has a Sandile on her team (because reptiles are rad, especially crocodilians).
