Ride 44: Unexpected Visitor

“The weather looks lousy.” said Granny Smith

“I checked and they said it would be clear for the tournament tomorrow.” said Applejack

“Apple Bloom not coming down. I’ll go check on her.” said Big Mac

“No, she has a lot of work to do getting her deck ready for nationals. I think we should just leave he be.” said Applejack

“I suppose you’re right.”

In Apple Bloom’s room. Apple Bloom was looking throw her shadow paladin deck.

“This deck made me stronger. But I still have a way to go. If I get stronger, you finally look at me as a equal won’t you, Spike?” asked Apple Bloom to herself

At Card Capital.

Rarity was starting to close up for the night.

“See you later!” said a colt

“I hope Team Crusaders wins nationals this time.” said another.

“Both of you be careful heading home.” said Rarity

All that were left at Card Capital are Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Rarity, Rainbow Dash, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon.

“Apple Bloom hasn’t been here since the region tournament. You think something happened to her.” said Silver Spoon

“No, Apple Bloom is just not the same pony anymore.” said Scootaloo

A few minutes have passed then a pony in a cloak came up to the store.

“I’m sorry but we’re closing up.” said Rarity

To pony still walked in without saying anything. She but her hood back and revealed herself.

“You're….” said Sweetie Belle

“Princess Luna!” finished Scootaloo

“What are you doing here?” asked Silver Spoon

“I’m looking for Spike.” said Luna

“Sorry, haven’t seen him.” said Scootaloo

“I have business with him. Bring him here.”

“Easier said than done. He has a habit of disappearing.” said Diamond Tiara

“Alright!” said Rainbow Dash

“You know where he is?” asked Silver Spoon

“Well yeah, Spike would get mad if I told you. But this seems important. I’ll take you where he hangs out.”

“Good, take me there.” said Luna

They left the store and flew off.

“This way it in the forest.” said Rainbow Dash as they landed then enter the Everfree forest. “In your old castle.” The two of them entered the caste.

“So he’s here?” asked Luna

“Yeah, look he’s playing right now.”

“I losed.” said pegasus

“Who’s next?” asked Spike

“You should go.” said a stallion

“No way, you should go.” said another

“Take it easy. I know you're frustrated but this guys can't handle this type of punishment.” said Discord

“Hey, Spike! Good to see you. It’s been awhile. I relieve you’re irritated right now, but why don’t you stop. It’s kind of a bad habit.” said Rainbow Dash as she walked up to Spike

“Its none of your business.”

Then Princess Luna walked out.

“Princess Luna I can explain.” stuttered Discord

“I don’t care what you do here Discord. I’m just here for a cardfight. I’m going to test you Spike. To see if your as good as everypony clams you are. Are you up to the challenge?”

“Fine.” said Spike

Some time later after Discord brought out his special fight table.

“Really why am I wearing one?” asked Rainbow Dash

“Come on! This is the best spot to watch the action.” said Discord

“Yeah, but I rather not.”

“Oh come on, you’ll love it. Right guys!”
“Yeah, give the best spot to her.” said the pegasus in a nervous tone

“Lucky!” said a stallion in the same tone

“It’s unfair.” said another in the same tone

“Yeah, right!” whispered Rainbow Dash

“Are you ready?” asked Spike

“Yeah, I know this system. Ready, when you are.” said Luna

“Stand up!”

“The.” Spike only

“Vanguard!”

“Amber Dragon, Dawn!” A red baby dragon with flame wings appeared.

“Brugal! I’m first, I ride Lake Maiden, Lien. Brugal moves back, then I use Lien’s skill to drop and draw.”

“She got rid of a card with a 10000 point shield.” said Discord

“My turn, I draw! I ride Amber Dragon, Daylight!” the dragon grow a little bit and has claw blades. “I activate Dawn’s skill, when I ride Daylight on him I can search my deck for Amber Dragon, Dusk and add it to my claws. Thanks to Daylight’s skill if Dawn is in the soul he gains 2000 power. Now I attack Lake Maiden, Lien. Drive trigger check. (no trigger)” Amber Dragon flew down then flew up and slashed Lien. (no trigger)

“I stand and draw!”

“I think being this close is bad for my health.” said Rainbow Dash

“It’s fun once you get use to it.” said Discord

“What if I don’t want to get use to it.”

“I ride Beast Knight, Garmore. I activate Garmore’s skill, I discard a card from my hoof and superior call Snogal. I move Brugal up and I call another Snogal. Snogal gains 1000 power for every copy of him on the field. With a boost from Snogal, Garmore attacks your vanguard. Drive trigger check, (Critical trigger) critical trigger thats 5000 power to Brugal and the critical to Garmore.” Garmore jumped into the air and slashed Amber Dragon. (no trigger, critical trigger) “Brugal attack with support from Snogal.” Brugal charged at Amber Dragon.

“I guard with Gattling Claw Dragon.” Brugal slashed a the dragon that appeared to defend. Rainbow Dash coughed from the smoke.

“I see thats why she threw away the unit with a 10000 point shield. Because she has eleven more.” said Discord

“On top of that she has the Snogal’s that gain power for each one out. She is focusing on an all out attack.” said Rainbow Dash

“I stand and draw, I ride Amber Dragon, Dusk.” The dragon grow even more and his claw blades are on fire. “With Daylight in the soul he gains 1000 power. I call Lava Arm Dragon and daylight.” A silver and red dragon with canons for claws appeared. “I activate Daylight’s skill. When this unit is called to the rear guard, I can discard a grade three Kagero unit. Then I can search for Amber Dragon, Eclipse and add it to my claws.”

“Whats the point of that? He just traded one grade three for another?” asked a stallion

“Because you don't want to many of them in your hoof. A grade three can’t intercept and has no shield a hoof full of those and your defense less.” said the Pegasus

“I see, this way he could trade the unit he had for the unit he wanted to have.” said a different stallion

“I’ll have Dusk attack your vanguard with Daylight’s support. When Dusk attacks my opponents vanguard it gains 2000 power. Drive trigger check.” (no trigger) Dusk flew up and slashed Garmore with his flame claws.

“Hot! Hot! Hot!” said Rainbow Dash as sparks fell down from Dusk as he flew across.

“Damage trigger check.”(no trigger)
“You flew that close on purpose.” said Rainbow Dash

“I attack with Lava Arm Dragon. His skill gives him 2000 power when he attacks.” He extended one of his arms and fired the cannon. (no trigger) “That’s the end of my turn.”

“So what did Spike do to make Luna so angry?” asked Discord

“I don’t know! She just showed up and said she wanted to talk to him.” said Rainbow Dash ‘Come to think of it Apple Bloom has meet her a number of times recently.’

“I thought you would play a little more aggressively.” said Luna

“If you have something to say to me just say it.” said Spike

“Don’t play dumb. We both know Apple Bloom would not looked for that power on her own.”

“So it’s about Apple Bloom. If you must know she chose that path for herself.”

“And who showed her the way. I stand and draw, I ride Fang of Light Garmore. I drop Marron from my hoof and superior call Snogal. My vanguard gains 1000 power for every Snogal and Brugal in the rear guard.”

“With that many she gains 4000 power.” said Discord

“I call High Dog Breeder, Akane. Then I activate her counterblast, I call a Snogal from my deck. Brugal is retired.”

“She has four Snogal’s at 9000 power each. “said Discord

“How do you like this Spike. This is what I call the blizzard formation. With Snogal’s support Fang of light Garmore attacks. Twin drive, (critical trigger) it’s a critical trigger that 5000 power to Snogal and the critical to my vanguard. Second check.(no trigger)” Garmore jumped up and slashed Amber Dragon. (No trigger, draw trigger)

“Draw trigger, thats 5000 power to my vanguard and I draw.”

“With a boost from Snogal, Akane attacks you vanguard.”

17000 to 15000

“I guard with Embodiment of Armor Bahr.”

17000 to 20000

Akane hit Bahr with her wipe.

“Now Snogal will attack with a boost from Snogal.”

23000 to 15000

“I guard with Dragon Monk, Genjo.” An earth pony mare riding a dragon appeared.

“She is much stronger than you or me. Why did Apple Bloom get that power? WHy did you let her go down that path if you know you couldn’t stop her?”

“I stand and draw, I ride Amber Dragon, Eclipse.” The dragon turned into an adult dragon with two, three barrel cannons. “Eclipse gains 1000 power as long as Dusk is in the soul. Then I call Demonic Dragon Mage, Kimnara and Dragonic Overlord.” Spike remembered some of the thing that happened with Apple Bloom

“Answer me!”

“Yeah! It’s my fault! All mine, because I’ve seen that power before. I couldn’t stop him, either. No, I didn’t even know how to stop him. But unlike the last time I’m going to save her.I activate Kimnara’s counterblast, I but him to the soul and retire one of my opponents grade one rear guards. I chosen the Snogal behind your vanguard. I activate Eclipse’s counterblast, when his attack hits I can send two of my opponent's rear guard to the drop zone. He attacks you with a boost from Daylight.”

17000 to 10000

“I don’t think so. I guard with Alabaster Owl and Akane intercepts.”

17000 to 25000

“Drive trigger check, draw trigger. I draw and 5000 power to Eclipse.”
“But for this to get trow Spike will have to draw a trigger on the next check as well.” said Discord

“Second check, critical trigger. That’s another 5000 power to Eclipse and extra damage to you.” Eclipse fired his three cannons taking out Alabaster Owl and Akane and hitting Garmore. (both no trigger) “With that hit I retire your two back row Snogals.”

“He destroyed the blizzard formation.” said a stallion

“Now she can’t power up.” said the Pegasus

“In just one turn, Spike dismantled Luna’s strategy.” said Discord

“Amazing.” said Rainbow Dash

“I attack with Dragonic Overlord.”

11000 to 10000

“I guard with Epona.

11000 to 20000

“I attack with Lava Arm Dragon.”
12000 to 10000

“I guard with another Epona.”

“My turns over.”

“So how are you going to fix this?”

“I’ll just become stronger than she can ever be. And bring her back myself.”

“I stand and draw! Do you believe you can surpass that power?”

“Yeah!”

“Can you stop Apple Bloom?”

“I will stop her!”

“I call Knight of Conviction, Bors and Knight of Silence, Gallatin. Snogal moves back.”

Some time later.

“Garmore attacks.”

“I guard with Wyvern Guard, Barri.”

“Twin drive check, (no trigger) second check (critical trigger) critical trigger all effects go to Gallatin. With a boost from Snogal he attacks.”

21000 to 11000

“I guard with Tahr and Nehalem.”

‘He’s a stubborn dragon. If he was worried about Apple Bloom, he should have just come out and said so.’ thought Rainbow Dash

some more time later.

“Dragonic Overlord attacks.”

“I don’t guard.”

Dragonic Overlord charged and slashed Garmore with his sword. Then the six damage went into Luna’s damage zone. (no trigger) Overlord roared.

The next day at the national tournament.

“Hey are you nerves Scootaloo?” asked Apple Bloom

“What would make you think that?” asked Scootaloo ‘Apple Bloom is acting strange.’

“Don’t worry, we’re going to win. Now that i have this deck.” said Apple Bloom pulling a card out of the deck.

“Hold on where did you get those cards?”

“Where’s your Blaster Blade?” asked Sweetie Belle

“Who cares!” answered Apple Bloom ‘This deck is going to make me even stronger. Then Spike will have no choice.’

At the castle princess Luna gave Spike Apple Bloom’s Royal Paladin deck.

“I couldn’t stop her.” said Luna

‘Apple Bloom.’ thought Spike “What is the name of that power?”

“Psyqualia!”

Nice chapter. I loved Amber Dragon and its series. It gets pretty intense with Dauntless Drive dragon. I mean you can have a chance to retire up to 4 units, if the right conditions are met. Good luck with the next chapter.
