Ride 26: A Stormy Beginning! The National Championship!

Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo, Spike, Rarity, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Diamond Tiara, Silver Spoon, Snips, and Snails were at the train station.

“I would like eleven tickets to Canterlot please.” said Rarity

“I’m sorry we’re all sold out.” said the ticket vendor

“Please sir we need to get to Canterlot. We’re team Crusaders and we’re competing in the national tournament.” said Apple Bloom

“Oh your team Crusaders, here.” the vendor said giving them five tickets.

“Thanks, this only five tickets.” said Rarity

“Yes for the team and the couch. The vanguard national tournament always gives the teams and their couch with tickets to Canterlot for the national tournament.”

“I understand.” said Rarity

Applejack walked up and asked. “Do you know how long it will be for the next train to Canterlot will get her?”

“It should be here in 20-30 minutes.” said the ticket vendor

“Ok, can I get six tickets for that train then?”

“You sure can.”

Applejack gave him the bits and he gave her the tickets.

Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Spike, and Rarity got on the train.

Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Spike, and Rarity were at the national tournament stadium.

“Wow.” said Apple Bloom

“Awesome.” said Scootaloo

“The regional tournament was impressive. But this tournament hall is even bigger.”

“Well, sure this is the National championship. I think it will be sold out.” said Rarity seeing all the ponies in line for tickets.

“Wow.” said Apple Bloom

“I’m going to use the ladies room so can you wait here?”

“Ok” said Apple Bloom as Rarity left. She saw some ponies carrying some equipment into the stadium. “What are they carrying into the stadium?”

“Thats just one of the crowes. Filming stuff for the live broadcast.” said Scootaloo

“They always show the vanguard nationals on tv. Haven’t you seen it before?” asked Sweetie Belle

“No.” said Apple Bloom

“Hey, I think I see Fluttershy over there.” said Scootaloo noticing a yellow pegasus with a pink main. “Come on lets go say hi.”

“But Rarity asked us to stay here.” said Apple Bloom

“We’ll go say hi and come right back.” said Scootaloo run there and she ran into a white stallion unicorn with a blue mane and tail. Because she wasn’t looking where she was going.

“Scootaloo.” said Apple Blooms her and Sweetie Belle came over to Scootaloo.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t see you there.” said the Stallion

“Are you alright?” asked Apple Bloom

“Don’t worry I’m alright.” said Scootaloo

“Well that’s good.” said the stallion

“Well that’s good. You're not getting of that easy. It just felt like I was hit by a cart full of rocks.” said Scootaloo

“You're right and I’m sorry. But you ran into me. Anyway I’m happy you're not hurt.” said the stallion

“Me too. I’m sorry, I was looking the other way.” said Scootaloo

“Please pardon us.” said Apple Bloom

“What are you doing Shining?” asked a purple unicorn mare walking up to him

“Did something happened?” asked a yellow pegasus stallion

“It’s alright we just had a little accident.” said Shining

“Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, Scootaloo is that you?” asked the purple unicorn mare

“Twilight.” said Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and Scootaloo in shocked

“You know them?” asked the yellow pegasus stallion

“Yeah, Apple Bloom, and Sweetie Belle are sisters to two of my friends. Scootaloo is a friend of theirs. I saw them have fun when I was in ponyville.” said Twilight

“So these are the three fillies you told us so much about.” said Shining

Twilight looked and saw Spike. “Spike it has been along time since we last seen each other.” she said as Spike walked towards them but said nothing.

“I great thanks to you we missed Fluttershy.” said Scootaloo noticing Fluttershy was gone.

“What Fluttershy was her? really.” said Twilight

“If you don’t mind me asking? Why are you here?” asked Apple Bloom

Up in the stadium in a room. The princess looked out the window.

“I wonder what the Crusaders are doing?” asked Celestia

“It looks like they're talking to another.” said Cadence

“Isn’t that….” said Luna

“I know what are the chances.” said Celestia

Back near the entrance.

“Your team Golden Lancer!” said Scootaloo in a shocked tone

“You heard of them before?” asked Apple Bloom

“Last year they were runner up and the year before, they were champions.”

“I had no idea.”

The crowd started to talk.

“Sorry, but could we take this somewhere else? We don’t want to distract all of this ponies. That are waiting in line to get in do we.” said Shining Armor

‘The must be strong. If they were the champions at one point.’ thought Apple Bloom

“Our bags.” said Scootaloo

“Sorry we just need a second to get our bags.” said Apple Bloom

Back up in the room.

“Amazing it’s like they were meant to meet up.” said Cadence

“It's just a coincidence.” said Luna

“Was it fate or Chance? We’ll know the question to that, by the time this tournament is over.” said Celestia

“What do you mean?”asked Cadence

Back in the stadium.

“Well lets introduce ourselves. I’m Shining Armor and I’m the leader of team Golden Lancer. You already know my little sister.” said Shining Armor

“And I’m Flash Sentry.” said Flash Sentry introducing himself

“I wanted to call us team Starswirl but they wouldn’t let me.” said Twilight

“It’s just we’re just not huge fans of him like you. Also it wouldn't fit the team and who we represent.” said Shining

“What do you mean? Don’t you represent the Crystal Empire?” asked Sweetie Belle

“Yeah you have a point there.” said Scootaloo

“Well you see we actually represent the Royal Guard. Let me explain there are some groups that are given a invite to the vanguard national tournament. The groups hold a tournament to see which team will get it. The teams must be made of ponies from the group but they can have one nonmember on the team. And with Twilight’s love of history and us representing the royal guard I thought we should be named after on of it greatest captions.” said Shining

“I still think we should be called team Starswirl.” said Twilight

“Twilight we put it to a vote. Either Way I like are team name it has a good ring to it.” said Flash Sentry

“You do have a point. So what are you girls doing here?”

“They probably came to watch the tournament.”

“Actually we’re the team representing Ponyville.” said Apple Bloom

“Really the four of you congratulations. I hope we get to fight each other.” said Twilight

“Thanks, same here. I think we may have forgotten something.”

At the entrance.

“Where did those girls and Spike go. I told them to wait right here tell I got back from the restroom.” said Rarity

Back in the stadium.

“I have to ask you how is it being on a team with four player? Do your top three hog all the action or does everypony get a chance to play? You know do you change up your order based off who your opponent is, or you just don’t waste time thinking about it?” asked Flash

“Well….” said Apple Bloom ‘That’s right, I forgot we'll be fighting as a three pony team. Just like at the regional tournament. Sweetie Belle wasn’t there last time so I participated. But among the members I don’t think I have a shot. I guess I’m sitting out.’

“Stop it, Flash. Don’t be nosy about another team’s strategy.” said Twilight

“It doesn't matter. Deciding who plays doesn't involve any strategy. It’s easy, the weakest player on our team will always sit out and that’s final.” said Spike

“Oh yeah Spike.” said Scootaloo

“Problem.”

“How about you show some respect.”

“Now calm down there is no need to get angry.” said Shining

“Look this problem is team Crusader business and I appreciate it if you keep out, alright.”

“Sure.”

“Problem, that’s right it is a problem.” said Spike

“Why you…..” said Scootaloo

“It’s ok Scootaloo. I know I’m probably going to get the chance to play. Spike’s right, we should have are top three players represent the team whenever possible. And with the way you three play. We all know who the weakest link is. I don’t mind.” said Apple Bloom

“Are you sure.”

“That settles it then.” said Spike

“There is something I need to know Spike? What is vanguard to you?”

“Searching for somepony strong and beating that pony in battle. That’s my vanguard.”

“Is that all?”

“Yeah.”

“Well then. You know the whole reason I started going to Card Capital. Was there wasn’t anywhere else for me to play. I had to get myself as far away from team handsome as possible. But when I found out Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle were playing vanguard too. I wanted to be on a team with them. I wanted to win this tournament together. What happened to you? You were nice and kind. But know your not.” said Scootaloo remembering what Spike said before.

“She should quit. If she wants to quit I say we let her do it.” said past Spike

Apple Bloom and Scootaloo were shock from what Spike said.

“But Spike.” said past Apple Bloom

“You act like she is the only one with a past. If she’s going to make excuses for her weakness. Then we don’t need her.”

Back in the present.

“Have you become heartless. You don’t even think twice before you tell somepony to quit or drop out. I guess being on this team doesn't mean anything to you.” said Scootaloo

“Forget the team when I’m cardfighting none of you matter to me.”

“That’s it.”

“Scootaloo.” said Apple Bloom

“I’m sorry, but I just can’t fight alongside him any more. I’m sorry, I quit.” said Scootaloo running away into the crowed.

“No Scootaloo wait.” said Apple Bloom going after her. Then Apple Bloom bumped into Rarity.

“Oh good, there you are I’ve been looking all over for you. I was worried where you went.” said Rarity

“I’m sorry, but I’m in a hurry.” said Apple Bloom

“Where are you going the tournament is about to start. It’s time for all teams to go out to the tournament floor and draw pairings. For the next round.”

“Let’s not waste anytime, Sweetie Belle. Come on Apple Bloom” said Spike

“What.” said Apple Bloom

“Now that Scootaloo gone we are down to three members. So if you don’t came with use then team Crusader will have to forfeit is that what you want.”

“Wait Scootaloo quit.” said Rarity

“Do you want my advice. This is just the first day of the tournament and the big games don’t happened till next week.” said Shining

“Yeah.” said Apple Bloom

“Well the games you will be playing are elimination matches. And if you're team loses you won’t be able to compete in the finals. You just need to see how much is on the line here. I know you want to case after your friend right now. But if you don’t play today. There won’t be a team for her to come back to. Sometimes doing what's right isn’t easy.”

“I guess so.”

“Good, choice because thats what being on a team is all about.”

“Yeah.”

Someplace else.

“Great I told you we should have told them we were going to the restroom.” said Snips

“Sorry but I really needed to go.” said Snails

“Where could they be? Were going to be late for the tournament.” as Snips asked that Scootaloo just ran past them. “Scootaloo, please wait up.”

“Where are you going?”
Up in the stadium in a room. The princess were waiting for the tournament to start. Then Celestia saw Scootaloo running.

“What’s this?” asked Celestia

Luna, and Cadence came over to the window. And saw Scootaloo running as well as some of her friends were right behind her.

“She’s from the crusaders.” said Luna

“Do you think they….” said Celestia

“Had a fight.” finished Cadence

The door knocked.

“Princess we will need you on stage in a few minutes. Please be ready.” said Somepony from behind the door.

“Sounds good.” said Celestia

“Let’s go.” said Cadence

In the Stadium.

“And know the master of ceremonies you all know and love. Me Pinkie Pie.” said Pinkie Pie

As Pinkie was saying this Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Diamond Tiara, and Silver Spoon took their seats.

“Hey do you know where Snips and Snails are?” asked Applejack

“Don’t tell me we lost them.” said Rainbow Dash

“I’ll go check and see if I can find them.”

“No I’ll go find them you just stay here and cheer for your sister.”

"No I don't mind looking for them. It will only tack a few minuets."

"If you insist Applejack."

Then Applejack left to look for Snips and Snails.

“And now lets give a warm welcome to our special guests Princess Celestia, Luna, and Cadence.” As Pinkie said that the princess came out on to the stage. The crowed cheered.

“What a great day for a vanguard tournament, right.” said Cadence

“Right.” said Celestia and Luna

“Ok, everypony on this side make some noise for me.” said Luna

Then the left side cheered.

“Now this side.” said Celestia

Then the right side cheered.

“That’s the spirit everypony now lets play some vanguard.” said Cadence

“I’m glad they didn’t forfeit.” said Shining

“Yeah after they worked so hard to here.” said Twilight

‘Hold on, Scootaloo I know how bad you wanted to play in this tournament. That is why I’ll do everything in my power to get us to the finals. And bring you back to team Crusaders.’ thought Apple Bloom

Nice job with this chapter. I like it. Good job introducing Team Gold Lancer. I can't wait for the Tyrano army next, may I suggest they be the wonderbolts team. Have fun.
