“Oh I’m sorry I’ll herry it it up.” said Apple Bloom

“This must be your first time at a tournament like this. The explains a lot.” ‘In a card fight its most important to keep your cool and she has been really nervous since we started. This game is mine.’

“Now I’ll have Gancelot attack your vanguard with support from Marron.”

17000 to 9000

“I guard with Tahr.”

17000 to 19000

“Gancelot charged and sliced Tahr and stopped before hitting her.

“Next is Alfred here I go. Twin drive check.”(no trigger) (Critical trigger)

“All right it’s a critical trigger.” said Diamond Tiara

“Thats 5000 power to Gordon and an extra damage for Alfred.” She jumped up and swung her her sword at her.

“Great now for the damage trigger.” said Rainbow Dash

“First card.” (no trigger) said Silver Spoon

“Second card.” (no trigger) said Diamond Tiara

“Yes keep it up Apple Bloom.”said Scootaloo

“Now I attack with Gordon supported by Elaine”

18000 to 9000

“I guard with Barri. I drop Bahr from my hoof to activate Barri’s skill. To nullify your attack.”

“I end my turn.”

“No way.” said Silver Spoon

“What do you expect Zecora uses snakes.” said Diamond Tiara

“Don’t you have a copy of Yaksha. It’s a grade three.” said Rainbow Dash

“Yeah but I keep it locked in a drawer at home.” said Diamond Tiara

“You're scared of a card.” said Snips

“Now it’s my turn, I call Bahr. With the support of Joka, Berserk Dragon attacks your vanguard.”

15000 to 10000

“I don’t guard.”

Both dragon heads shot fire at her. (no trigger)

“Now Bahr support my attack. Twin drive, come trigger. Yes critical trigger activated.”

“Why did she have to get that now?” asked Diamond Tiara

“She was going to get a lucky draw sooner or later.” said Silver Spoon

“This isn’t good.” said Scootaloo

“I add 5000 power to Tejas and the critical will go to me.” She slithered and slashed Apple Bloom with one of her blades.

“Checking damage trigger.” (both no trigger)

“Oh no Apple Bloom’s at five damage. One more and it’s all over.” said Silver Spoon

“And Zecora still has on more attack left. Apple Bloom you have to stop this attack.” said Diamond Tiara

“Thats easy for you to say.” said Apple Bloom

“Well Spike let see how Apple Bloom gets her self out of this one.” said Rarity

“Now Tejas attacks Alfred with support with Jarran and skill he gains 10000 power.”

23000 to 10000

“I guard with Wingal.”

“She’s still short that won't be enough.” said Silver Spoon

“You need more cards Apple Bloom.” shouted Diamond Tiara

‘Llew has a 10000 point shield if I use him to guard I’ll be able to block this attack no problem. But it’s the last card in my hoof and I don’t want to leaves me without any options. If only there was some other way.’ Apple Bloom turned her head and looked at Gordon ‘I got it’ “Wingal is the only card I’m going to use from my hoof.”

“You must still be nerves you miscalculated how much power is heading your way.”

“No I didn’t this is my plan after thinking it through the best course of action is clear. Gordon intercepts the attack.”

“Intercept I thought you might choose that option. But your still 3000 short.”

He opened his mouth and fired.

“That’s the end.” said Silver Spoon

“Why did she let that attack go throw?” asked Diamond Tiara

When the smoke cleared Apple Bloom stood there not have taken any damage.

“I don’t believe it how are you still standing?”

Yes.” said Rainbow Dash

The screen replayed what happened and it showed that Gordon shield doubled.

“No way his shield doubled. How is that possible?”

“Because that wasn’t a regular intercept.”

“What do you mean?”

“When I call Gordon to intercept an attack as long as there is a royal paladin in the vanguard cycle his shield gains 5000.”

“What is this?”

“It’s the form of ability that lets you ambush your enemy. It called an especial intercept.”

“Especial intercept, I never seen anypony use that.”

“I know it’s a first for me two. Gordon’s from a booster pack I opened this morning and I knew right away it belong in my deck.”

“Hold on did you get it in the new the expansion set?”

“Yeah thats right.”

‘I can’t believe she is already using card from the onslaught of dragon souls expansion set. I think I may have underestimated her a little.’ “Thats the end of my turn.”

“Impressive I don’t think anypony expected Apple Bloom to make that play.” said Rarity

‘Five damage and only one card in hoof. I can’t afford to let this game go on any longer.’ “I call Gigantic Charger.” A giant earth pony with a staff with a blue gem on both ends appeared. “With Gigantic Charger’s skill let me look at the top of my deck and if it’s a Royal Paladin I can call it to a rear guard cycle. I supper call Flogal.”

“Wow that’s awesome it’s a grade three I have never seen before.” said Diamond Tiara

“More importantly it allowed Apple Bloom to get Flogal into play.” said Silver Spoon

“But Flogal is a grade zero.”

“As usual you can’t see past the grade.” said Rainbow Dash

“That’s right.” said Snips and Snails

“Just look at the battlefield. Now that Flogal is in play Alfred is at full power now.” said Scootaloo

“Wow looks like Apple Bloom is really using her new units to the best of their abilities.” said Rarity

Spike kracked a small smile.

“Lets do this with Elaine's support I’ll have Gigantic Charger attack your vanguard.” He lifted his staff up then slammed it on the ground sending a wave of energy at her.

“Damage trigger check.” (no trigger)

“Yes nothing there.” said Rainbow Dash

“All she has to do one more damage.” said Silver Spoon

“Then she will win.” said Diamond Tiara

“All right I’m next.”

20000 to 9000

“I guard with Tahr and Joka.” ‘If I can get through this turn and I will win.’

“Now for my twin drive, first check. (no trigger) Second check critical trigger. Giving both bonus to Alfred.”

25000 to 24000

Apple Bloom swung her sword at her.

“Damage trigger check no trigger.”

“The winner of the first fight from team Crusader is Apple Bloom.” announced the judge

The crowed cheered.

‘I won.’

“You did it Apple Bloom. I just knew you would win.” said Scootaloo

“Thanks”

“That was a really great match.” said Silver Spoon

“Yeah but why didn’t Zecora use an intercept on that last attack?” asked Diamond Tiara

“No Zecora did the right thing.” said Spike everypony looking at him. “Picture it she had two units capable of intercepting. Just one would be enough to stop Alfred's attack. But Apple Bloom still had Gancelot and to guard that attack she would have to use her intercepts. The outcome of that game was decided the moment you pulled that critical trigger Apple Bloom.”

“It sure was fun to watch.” said Scootaloo

“That certainly was a lucky draw you had.” said Rarity ‘But the real reason you won because you belive in yourself and your deck.’

“Now it time for the second match. But there is a lot of excitement with regional qualifiers happening all over Equestria. Are next match is Spike vs Lyra.” said Pinkie Pie

“Do your best Spike.” said Apple Bloom

“Make it two wins in a row.” said Scootaloo

“I will win.” said Spike

They both turned in to Lizard Runner, Undeux.

“Hey look Lyra is using a Kagero deck as well.” said Rainbow Dash

“But thats the same deck that Spike uses.” said Silver Spoon

“This will be good match.” said Diamond Tiara

“Interesting this’ll decide which one of us is the master of the Kagero clan.” said Lyra

Spike just smiled and side.

“I hope you don't think you're gonna keep that expression when I bet you.”

Some Time Later

“I don’t believe it. How were you able to protect yourself from my onslaught of my dragon army?” asked Lyra

“Don’t make me laugh. I guess I have no choice but to show you what a real dragon can do, counterblast. With support from Bahr, Dragonic Overlord attacks Tejas. Check no trigger” said Spike He shot fire at Tejas.

“Yeah next up I attack Goku.”

16000 to 10000

“I guard with Ganlu.”

16000 to 20000

“Thats fine. Check the drive trigger, I got a critical trigger. I give all effects to my Dragonic Overlord.”

21000 to 20000

He swang his sword hitting both Goku and Ganlu.

“Oh no.”

“I stand again. Lets end this.”

‘I have nothing left to guard if I draw two trigger and one of them is a heal I could still have a chance.’

“Check the drive trigger.” Spike cracked a smile

“Don’t tell me.”

“I got a critical trigger. Giving all effects to my Overlord.” He shot out flames at her.

“It’s not over if I can draw two heal triggers. First no, and second no.”

“The winner of the second fight from team Crusader is Spike.” announced the judge

“At least we know how is the master of the Kagero clan.” said Spike

“It looks like Spike got a lucky with those critical triggers.” said Diamond Tiara

“No the triggers didn’t matter if you look closely. Spike still had two units that hadn’t attack yet. Basically if Spike hadn’t drawn those critical triggers he would still had enough attacks to end the game.” said Silver Spoon

“Then you mean.”

“Spike Crushed Lyra.” said Rainbow Dash

‘Awesome Spike really is incredible.’ thought Apple Bloom

On the opposite side of the stands team handsome was watching the fight.

“Spike overwhelmed her.” said Pipsqueak

“Spike did any of you knew he was this good at vanguard?” asked Thunderlane

The rest of team handsome shook their heads.

“It’s unbelievable he was able to stay off our radar until now.” said Thunderlane ‘I see I just thought you joined a team of looser. But it looks like your friends really know their stuff good.’

“Is something wrong?” asked Blossomforth

“No just thinking about how awesome the finals are going to be.”

“Congratulations Spike, your opponent didn’t stand a chance.” said Apple Bloom

“At her level isn’t worth remarking upon.” said Spike

“Oh come on Spike I mean you just won a game.” said Spike

“Don’t even bother. I try many times to get him to smile. But nothing worked. I think he is just going thow a phase. For all we know this could be another way he is maturing. At least he’s not growing rapidly.” said Rainbow Dash

“Yeah” everypony said in agreement

“congratulations team Crusader. Apple Bloom you’re tough.” said Zecora

“Yeah same goes for you too Spike.” said Lyra

“The better team won this time.” said Bon Bon

“What are you talking about? You and me Bon Bon still have a fight to do. Then I’ll make the score 3-0.” said Scootaloo

“You do know how the rules work right?” asked Zecora

“What do you mean?” asked Scootaloo

“Well since it’s a team competition. The first team to get two wins moves on to the next round.” said Lyra

“You guys are the winners because even if we did played a third game it wouldn’t change it wouldn’t change the results of the team matchups.” said Bon Bon

“There is no third fight.” said Zecora

“What do you mean?” asked Scootaloo

“It’s true it says right here in the information package.” said Apple Bloom look at it.

“I’m sorry I knew about that rule. But it must have slipped my mind.” said Rarity

“This isn’t far.” said Scootaloo

“See you Scootaloo maybe I’ll get a chance to play you some other time.” said Bon Bon as the three of them walked off.

“I want my turn.” shouted Scootaloo
