They say every fruit in the Evrefree Forest is poisonous save one. That there is one fruit that can be eaten and will grant you eternal youth and immunity to all poison of every kind. But the price of eating the fruit of eternal youth is that you can never find your way back home.

They say there are monsters that live in the Everfree Forest. One of them, the vampire, can make itself look like a normal pony to lure you deep into the woods. It is this creature alone that can show you the fruit of eternal youth.

Pinkie knows every legend surrounding these things. She knows she can stay safe and befriend one of these monsters, so long as what she's heard is true.

Warning! This story is a prequel to Final Corruption. You don't have to read that one to understand this, but it does contain a spoiler.

Grace, beauty, elegance.

Princess Luna embodies all of these traits as she faithfully attends to her royal duties. Yet sometimes, with the repetition of raising the moon each night and the tedium of hearing endless appeals for various favors and assistance, a princess just wants to have a little fun.

Enter Pinkie Pie, who knows just what Luna needs.

Paul Matthews is a young man of average height and average weight and fairly average disposition. He is normal, and abnormally so. That rarely seen kind of person who, even in their early years, gives off the impression that they are destined for a moderately successful career in middle management at some cold, gray corporation.

Paul Matthews is about to come very close to something that few people do.

"Twilight and her friends are invited to the Grand Galloping Gala." Pinkie sighed. 'We have to do that story again?' she thought. "Ugh, I don't know how much longer I can take these summer repeats! Well better get this over and done with. It sure is a better option than... the alternative."

Pinkie Pie is in charge of the show, and it's her responsibility to make sure every episode goes off without a hitch. However, performing an endless cycle of repeats over the summer has left everypony very frustrated. Despite that, it is up to Pinkie to guide her friends through the repeat, less they face the unthinkable if things go wrong.

The first story of my "Tales From Behind the Scenes" series! Read the other parts here:

There are a thousand reasons for not making a purchase at the Carousel Boutique. Some of them are legitimate. Many are excuses. The majority are lies. Falsehoods which Rarity has been listening to for years now, without the slightest touch of variety in the performances. Lies which, during the first week of Ponyville's summer tourist season. have escalated to the point where it feels like they're the only words being said at all.

So if nopony is going to buy anything no matter what Rarity does -- why not call them out on a few? Surely that couldn't do any harm, at least not more than what's already been done?

Surely...

There are costs to being nice, to being the pony who's always kind, to being the pony who tries so hard to make everyone smile. Terrible, terrible costs.

This is (not) a love story.
