This story is a sequel to Chrysalis's final gambit


The world is changing. Chrysalis has lost her hive and all her subjects, and now, her nemesis, Queen Celestia, is getting closer and closer to retirement.

This stirs the desire for her to actually attempt to stay close to Celestia, even if it means finally upholding romantic feelings that she has never understood; And finally admit that she might want to be much, much closer to the alicorn.

...But Celestia's family has something to say about it.

Shining and Cadence knew that raising a princess would present challenges above and beyond those of raising a born alicorn. As one might expect of Twilight Sparkle's brother and sister-in-law, they prepared as best they could for many of the problems they might encounter along the way.

Of course, that doesn't mean anypony told Flurry, who feels like this is a bit of an overreaction to her wanting a cookie that happened to belong to somepony else.

An unknown villain tries to pit Princess Nightmare Moon and Queen Chrysalis into another battle. Nurse Bandaid is caught in the middle. All the while Celestia is distracted with personal matters and Court Vizier Twilight Sparkle must try to run Canterlot on her own. Discord is unaccounted for, but he loves his sisters dearly. Who is pulling the strings of conflict between the five Children of Faust?

This story is a sequel to Unwell


Twilight Sparkle is not well.

After the incident in Ponyville, Twilight has been moved to the Canterlot Mental Hospital, a top of the line care facility. Rainbow Dash has moved to Canterlot as well, to be there to provide support to Twilight.

Along the way, she will learn things about Twilight that she didn’t even know she didn’t know, as well as meet important ponies from Twilight’s past.

Twilight Sparkle is not well. But there is a plan for her and she is recovering.

The thing about life is, it never quite goes according to plan.


This story is a sequel to my other story, Unwell.
As a result, it won't much sense if you don't read that one first.

When Celestia asks Sunset to stop asking about the Crystal Mirror, she actually listens. But the compliance is only surface level, and Sunset remains convinced that her mentor is holding her back from her true potential. The distance between them grows as Sunset retreats into her research, stopping her visits to Celestia completely and growing increasingly isolated.

Weeks pass until Celestia finally recognizes that her efforts to protect Sunset are having the opposite effect as intended. She decides a change of approach is needed before the fragile trust between them is shattered forever. She summons Sunset to her throne room for the first honest conversation they've had in months. Honesty alone won't be enough to mend their damaged relationship, but it's a start...
