Sunset Shimmer has just graduated from Canterlot High School, and while that would normally be cause for celebration, it fills her only with a nameless dread as her friends begin to scatter to the winds to pursue their futures. With the latent magic of the human world contained and categorized and the Rainboom's idyllic days of schoolwork over, she finds herself without aim and listless, as though something important is missing from her life.

Fortunately for her, Princess Twilight Sparkle might know what ails her.

So. First time posting on the site after a VERY long period of lurking and reading and enjoying the tales this fandom can produce. To my surprise, I found a dearth of a certain subset of story that I wanted to read, and so I have done this, to put my thoughts to words. After all, it is said that one should write the story they want to read, yes? I've been inspired by a variety of stories like it that came before, and I hope to equal their quality.

I'll try to update roughly once every couple of weeks; please be patient with me and I hope you give this tale a once-over. Pre-emptively tagging with AU, that I might diverge freely from what may come if needed.

Sunset has a crush on Twilight. The problem is, she seems to have a type: people who are incredibly powerful, have some measure of authority and power in their positions, and still have very sweet personalities.

And Twilight is far more powerful and popular than Flash ever was.

But it's okay. It's not like Twilight likes her back, right? Right.

After Twilight starts nerding out about the origins of the name, Sunset explains her previously held notions of the etymology for the gemstone, sapphire.

Sunset has Twilight over for their weekly Movie Night when she notices something upsetting: Twilight isn't happy. Sunset tries to pull her girlfriend out of her funk and get to the bottom of what's bothering her, but what can you say when the one you love reveals she's afraid because her life is about to end?

Twilight thought it was simple. You picked one mate, and it either worked out and you got married, or it didn't and you found a new mate. But at least on the other side of the portal, things get a little more complicated. A simple question from Sunset leads to a relationship she didn't know was possible, and happiness she didn't know she'd ever find.

After Sour Sweet mentions, ''Kissing'', and how many times she has done it, Twilight felt curious on how it feels. To do that, she needs a date, and Lemon Zest will help her out on that.

Now Sunset has to help her new friend practice for kissing, as Twilight gets ready for her date. And even though both girls thought it would be gross and awkward, they soon found out it was a lot more enjoyable than they think.

If there was one thing Twilight Sparkle had learned since ascending to alicornhood and becoming a princess, it was that ponies talked. Then, quite suddenly, they were talking about her.

And then they were talking about her love life since she was a single princess, unmarried and approachable.

She was still getting used to that part.

She was especially getting used to talking about it with Sunset.

It has been two months since the invasion of Canterlot and Equestria is learning to heal. But even with Hearth's Warming around the corner, one pony can't find it in herself to be cheerful.

Tempest Shadow, still haunted by the memories of her actions, is desperate to find a way to prove she's changed. Hoping to help, Twilight asks an old friend for assistance. One who'll force Tempest to face her demons, whether she wants to or not.
