After hearing Sunny's experience of cuddling with Hitch, Izzy decided to have a go at it, which is why she went to the police station. Unfortunately the sheriff was not in...wait is that Sprout ? He looks sooo unhappy. Maybe Izzy can fix that.

A fun-filled day at Sunny’s is interrupted by a conundrum.

A short one-shot that gives the story of Hitch's motivation and promise that leads to him becoming sheriff. It takes place three to four years after the flashback scene in G5 where they are all kids.

Rob the earth pony has not had an easy life. Alongside his crippling social anxiety, dead-end job, and general poor looks, he also suffers from a severe aversion to a certain facet of songwriting. Sure is a good thing his fellow citizens of Maretime Bay aren't prone to bursting into spontaneous musical numbers!

It's a long, long, long way down from being Emperor of Maretime Bay, especially after your childhood friend turned out to be right after all. It wouldn't have been so bad if Sunny had rubbed his nose in it, but she hadn't even done as much as that.

Now, Sprout has to make some tough choices. And while he might try to take the easy way out, somepony unexpected will show him another way forward.

"Look at me, I'm Hitch. Everypony loves me, I've got a perfect mane, shredded abs and think my paid-off mortgage gives me the right to drag my deputy to chase after the crazy mare he already told me to arrest too many times to count. Bleh." Sprout murmured, kicking any small rock that got on his path in frustration.

The entire herd of bunnies that had gathered around the taller stallion suddenly cheered at his heroic speech and Sprout groaned.

Sunny…she’s always so optimistic that she can change things here in Maretime Bay, make everypony get along, and prove a point to our system, which is inherently Earth Pony-centric.

I don’t know what the other races are like. I’ve never seen them. But from what I heard about them…I feel Sunny is going to get herself either killed or something much worse should she keep this up. She’s my only real friend here in this town and I’m all she’s got. I don’t think she truly understands how dangerous this world really is.

This is the story of me trying to live up to the mantle of a responsible sheriff, protecting the town, and my friend, even if it means protecting her from herself….

School has ended and Sunny invites Hitch to come over to play for the evening. Sunny tells Hitch about her dream of unicorns and pegasi being welcomed with open hooves in Maretime Bay. Together, Hitch helps Sunny pretend to fly whilst she dreams of that fantasy becoming a reality.

Millennia after being banished from the face of Equestria, King Sombra stirs restlessly in his lightless prison, held alive only by his dark magic and the desire to take vengeance against the Elements of Harmony. Especially the one who sent him there.

Harmony, however, is an inscrutable force. One willing to grant him a second chance in a world far different from the one he remembers.
