While waiting for Ocellus so they could spend the day around Canterlot, Smolder decides to kill some time by browsing one of Rarity's boutiques. Unfortunately for her, the boutique in Canterlot is run by a store manager who is very eager to find the right dress for the young orange dragon.

Sassy Saddles has gotten used to Rarity asking her for favors when the occasion arises, such is the life of being business partners after all. But this time, Sassy thinks Rarity is asking the impossible!

Bringing Sweetie Belle along on a trip to Canterlot Carousel, Rarity is forced to leave Sweetie in Sassy's care when the fashionista realizes she has an important meeting with a client that she cannot be late for! Much to Sassy's displeasure, as she thinks foals of all ages are a hoofful.

But perhaps, Sweetie Belle will change Sassy's perceptions? After all, Sweetie Belle is a well meaning filly. Surely a filly as sweet and well intentioned as her can't be too much trouble for a couple of hours, right?

I had earned an opportunity to work for one of the bearers of the Elements of Harmony. I had been bad luck before. I had lost my scholarship because of my special talent with needles. My employers, had lost their businesses despite my best efforts. Could I accept this opportunity where I might again hurt somepony, this time somepony important? I needed help when, one fine Canterlot spring day, a friend unexpectedly walked into my life.

As a pony working the world of high fashion, Rarity knows how important reputation is. That's why she strives to make sure every client feels cared for - and that her employees do the same.

The only trouble is that a few ponies are raving about the dresses Rarity personally designed for them.

Ponies that Rarity has no recollection of meeting.

Rarity has an idea; a fantastic idea! If clothing accented with crystals could be made beautiful, clothes made entirely out of crystal would be even more beautiful!

When she began creating them and working on a way to make it happen, she found out the stones were singing to her. Her work beneath Canterlot became not just an exercise in visual beauty, but in sound! As her work continues and near fruition, she brings Sassy with her upon request to see the final product.

Sassy finds it unpleasant. As Rarity continues her work, Sassy begins to question it, and finds out it's not as innocent as she might think.

Sassy Saddles and Coco Pommel have a week to prepare extravagant dresses for an upcoming festival. Within a couple of minutes, everything goes wrong, and no one knows how to approach their task.

This story is a sequel to Spike's Mark

In “Spike’s Mark”, Spike confessed his love to Rarity and gave her a Mark of Love. It was supposed to be a ‘Happy Ending’. However, Rarity’s adventure was just beginning. Starting where Spike’s Mark left off comes the next chapter In Spike and Rarity’s relationship. A tale of romance, drama, and humor. One that will make you both laugh and cry just like its predecessor. It will most certainly have moments that touch your heart...I guarantee.

In this story, you will see most of the Mane 6 return as well as Sassy Saddles, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, and a few other special side characters from the series. You will learn how Rarity’s family reacts to Rarity dating Spike. You will hear the tale of how the Carousel Boutique was first created. You will see special moments where sisters bond together…and playfully team up against a little dragon.

But the big question will be the ultimate choice Rarity must make.

Confronted with the fact that some ponies still fear dragons and the idea of a pony and dragon being together is considered ‘unnatural’, Rarity must choose which path to take. Finding the love she has searched for or fulfilling the dream she always desired. Can such a union truly exist or will Rarity lose her Spikey-Wikey?

Spoiler Alert if you have not read “Spike’s Mark”. Fortunately, you do not need to have to read “Spike’s Mark” to enjoy this story since all the side characters will be learning about the events as well.
