I've replaced the introduction from my original post with this one. After the body of the post (past the second HR), I've also included a selection of worthwhile comments from the discussion the post generated back in May 2017.

Ok, so a lot of people I spend an inordinate amount of time talking with do this and I’m going to give this a try. I’m not used to doing retrospectives, so bear with me here. I’ll be keeping this retrospective to the major stories more than the one-shots.
Homecoming.
As it says in the title, this is where I share random ideas with the world.
There will be more of these posts.
First off, would anyone like to edit my stories? I would very much appreciate it. Reply or PM to contact me
Anyway, on to rambling.
Where in canon does it say Luna can raise the stars? I don't remember where it says this. She definitely can raise the moon, but when does the cartoon show Luna raising the stars?
Well, not statistics per se, but mathematics. With some unexpected conclusions.
It started yesterday, when Fylifa, who had been asking me to figure out a way to compare the popularity of different ships based on the Fimfarchive dataset – something that remains a puzzle, because FimFiction does not have shipping tags, and figuring out which ships a particular story espouses from text alone is nontrivial – came up with one herself.
1. APPRAISALS
I was doing some consulting on “sentiment analysis” of tweets, which means making computers guess whether tweets say good things or bad things about whatever they’re talking about. This led me to The Appraisal Website and their appraisal ontology, which divides appraisals into 3 types:
I had the day off from work yesterday, so the lazy bum in me totally forgot that I tend to post something every Friday. See what happens when I work off schedule?!
Ah well, have this and the new season premier today.
Again, (Spoilers if you've done 100% playthrough of the game)
So we all know about W.D. Gaster, right? Former royal scientist before Alphys, and the the being can only be found when you tampered with the game files. However we have no idea what he is and where he fits into the story. All we know is that his disappearance happened a few years before the start of the game. However, is it possible that Gaster only disappeared sometime after the first child?
This... Just this.
https://m.And I'm not saying this is official or anything, as it isn't, but I think there might be a very good possibility of this happening, as Kylo is a Skywalker and at some points throughout The Force Awakens, he didn't seem to be fully embracing the Dark Side.
So, I realized that I'm behind on the new MLP episodes but (due to love migraine fun time) didn't feel like doing anything more than look at the list and find the one that people seem to like the best so far and skim it (because, you know, migraine), which seems to be "Flurry of Emotions". For the record, I fully approve of the pun in the title. And, as an aunt, I can appreciate Twilight trying to spend time with Flurry and still fulfill her list.
So it's only been recently that I really really delved into the MLP fandom and lore. Because of that, I learned that despite Twilight being turned into an Alicorn, she will not outlive her friends. As many know, this was tweeted from Megan McCarthy herself. Many chose to interpret this to mean that somehow the Main 6 will either ALSO be immortal, because of the Elements of Harmony, or they will simply
Woah! Is that Ruby with a blog? It's been like forever since she's done anything on the site, I thought she forgot about it and stopped reading. That was my impression of you, how'd I do? Anyway, bad jokes aside, to answer the burning question likely none of you had, yes I still remain, and indeed I do still read. In fact, since my last blog, I've read 4 books, and I'm halfway through number 5. So, let's get into it then, I've got no time to waste and there's a lot to cover!
So after being inactive for centuries, I Suddenly show up again with an interesting theory regarding Gen 5's mane villain, Opaline.
Now, Opaline has become something of a polarizing character for multiple Reasons, chief among them being the fact that she's the reason the tribes are at odds with each other in the new era.
So why not make it worse for her by connecting her to another polarizing character? XD
